The War in America papers concern the War of 1812 and are primarily naval; with the Royal Navy on the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain. Of particular interest are extracts of the proceedings of the court martial of Captain Barclay and others resulting from the Battle of Lake Erie September 1813. The slavery papers from 1813 to 1814 containing extracts of treaties between Britain and European countries give an overview of the gradual abolishment of the slave trade. Correspondents include the Duke of Wellington Viscount Castlereagh Henry Wellesley and Earl Bathurst. The Genoa Naples and Italy papers relate to risings against the French in 1814 with much of the correspondence by Lord Bentinek. The material on the Napoleon Wars deals with the period between The Treaty of Paris in 1814 and the Hundred Days campaign of 1815. The last correspondence is between Viscount Castlereagh and Earl of Clancarty the month before the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815.
