A well illustrated catalogue of the companies designs and products offering styles like French Sheraton Chippendale Italian Renaissance Georgian Elizabethan and Pompeian Founded in 1887 by Charles Albert Hindley and Edward H. Hindley originally part of their fathers furniture business in Oxford Street. Charles Albert apprenticed at Wallers and studied art and building construction before joining the family firm. A handsome trade catalogue from this maker of tableware with most designs representing a form of Art Deco. The first plate is a selection of monograph styles followed by plates of silverware serving vessels and implements tea and coffee sets and decorative table pieces including centerpieces table lighting and vases. Of the loose plates four of them appear in a different style and bear the imprint "Imp. Faucheax et Fils Chelles". Some light wear and fading to gilt-printed pale blue wrappers. Internally near fine. At first glance this item appears to be in such fine condition that we worried it was a facsimile but it is not. A gorgeous copy.The L. L. Brown Paper Company was founded by Levi Lawrence Brown in 1849. He was born in Adams in 1826 also the birthplace of Susan B. Anthony. After learning the paper trade at the Crane Mills in Dalton Brown started his own business manufacturing high quality ledger paper which he sold in major cities from coast to coast. The 4 double sided ads have 2 with color only on one side and 2 with color to both sides. Externally the brown cloth boards are worn faded and soiled. The cloth is separating from the boards at the front lower right hand corner and on the rear lower left hand corner. The top spine edge is torn on the right side and the bottom spine edge is frayed and worn. Internally the book is in wonderful condition. The pages are fresh and the color plates are in very good condition. A couple of the tissue guards are torn but still present. There are several pages with very small edge tears to the outside edge as if from turning the pages as the book is folio sized. Six Items Concerning Draper's Self-Recording Thermometer.
New York: Draper Manufacturing Company 1907. The Self-Recording Thermometer was designed by Dr. Daniel Draper 1841-1931 who was one of the sons of John William Draper a pioneer in stellar photography. Daniel was instrumental in setting up the New York Meteorological Observatory in Central Park in 1868 and made a number of important meteorological inventions. The mechanism used to drive the self registering chart was made by Seth Thomas one of the earliest and most respected clock makers in America. The recording chart is placed on the circular dial at the top of the encasing which rotates once a week. A pen mechanism attached to the thermometer records the temperature on the chart two of which are included in this lot. The items are;A typed letter on Draper Manufacturing letterhead offering the Henry Heil Chemical Comany of St. Louis offering them a 20% discount on either size of the device. Secretarial signature.Two of the actual charts to be affixed to the Self-Recording Thermometer; a small one of 8 inches and half a large of of 12 inches this one appears to have bee used and is thus an example of the results.Two postcard size advertisements on thick card. One of the Self-Recording Thermometer and the other for Draper's Self-Recording Hygrometer humidity.
