brossura Fra il 1921 e il 1928 il grnde antropologo Leo Frobenius pubblicò, con il titolo "Atlantis", un'opera in più volumi che ha rappresentato sinora il vero tesoro narrativo delle civiltà africane. E una delle regioni più affascinanti di questo universo di storie è costituita dalle "Fiabe del Kordofan", che Frobenius apprese nel 1912 da alcuni cammellieri di El Obeid, nel Sudan, e trascrisse mantenendo felicemente il passo e la vivezza della narrazione orale. Qui vediamo affiorare, insieme a personaggi e temi ricorrenti nella novellistica di ogni paese, credenze magiche o usi appartenenti a cicli culturali delle età più remote, teocratiche e matriarcali. E sulla soglia di questa raccolta apparirà la favola che è il presupposto di tutte le altre: la leggenda della rovina di Kasch, regno fondato sul sacrificio periodico del re, dove l'arte del raccontare, introdotta dallo straniero Far-li-mas, mostrerà di avere la forza di sabotare l'ordine esistente e di salvare così la vita del re, di sua sorella e del narratore stesso, analogamente a ciò che avviene nella cornice delle "Mille e una notte", con cui queste "Fiabe del Kordofan" rivelano sorprendenti affinità.
