Wilm besucht die Kunstgewerbeschulen in München und Paris, wird 1908 Mitarbeiter der 'Jugend' und arbeitet als Grafiker. Etwa 227 Exlibris hat er geschaffen, und immer wieder wird sein dekoratives Talent gelobt. 1924 beginnt er, Kunstgeschichte zu studieren, und wird 1928 mit einer Arbeit über gotische Tonplastiken promoviert. 1931 beendet er seine künstlerische Tätigkeit und arbeitet ausschließlich als Journalist. Blum (2007, S. 4) schreibt: " Heute gehören die Exlibris des Dr. Hubert Wilm zu den besten Arbeiten am Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts und sind entsprechend gesuchte Sammelobjekte." - Rückseitig kleine Montagereste.‎
