VG/VG dustjackets are protected by mylar with minor losses at top and base of spine but in remarkable condition for their tender nature. All three volumes though apparently new had loose sheets because of insufficient binding practice. All three volumes have been tended to by a professional binder and are now firm and Fine. Publishers blue cloth with embossed title on cover and spine with original dustjackets on all three volumes. Top edges gilt. 3 volumes 6vi 7 pages 274 leaves of collotype plates. There are an additional 12 folding architectural plans and 2 maps; frontispieces of Chinese writing in each volume. 324 x 249mm 12�x10". A stunningly well-preserved set of what is both very rare and usually found in a state of disrepair. Volume 1 contains the text and initial; plates and volumes 23 continue the progression of the plate presentation. Difficult to imagine a nicer set. Text is in English. Weighs 5 pounds and may require extra postage. Volume I only of a 2-volume set on the history of Chinese painting. This volume covers the period from the Han to early Sung dynasties.
