Etienne TÜrr né à Baja (Hongrie) en 1825 combattit d'abors dans l'armée autrichienne, britannique, avant de rejoindre les rangs italiens. cet officier, doté de grandes qualités, s'illustra aux côtés de Garibaldi. Le récit du procès dont il est question ici, est à situer au cours de la période où Etienne Türr servait la Grande-Bretagne. Chargé d'acheter des chevaux, il fut reconnu et arrêté par les Autrichiens. Traduit en Conseil de Guerre et condamné à mort, il ne dut la vie qu'à l'intervention personnelle de la Reine Victoria. Epoux de la Princesse Wyse-Bonaparte, Etienne Türr mourut en 1910 à Bucarest.
