Pair of Original Vintage Unsigned Photos 1848-1922 from 1889 Prince of Monaco distinguished Oceanographer and his second wife Alice HEINE 1857-1925 Princess Consort
showing them head and shoulders 2¼" x 1½" mounted on card 5" x 3½" no place no date circa Alice first met Albert I of Monaco in Madeira in 1879. At the time the Hereditary Prince was still in an unhappy marriage with Lady Mary Victoria Douglas-Hamilton. The prince's first marriage was eventually annulled by the Church on January 3rd 1880 and Alice and the prince began a relationship soon thereafter. The marriage to Prince Albert I of Monaco Sovereign Prince of Monaco occurred on October 30th 1889. Despite the initial success of their marriage they separated legally in 1902without issue though did not divorce. unknown

Albert I Duke of Lower Bavaria German Albrecht 1336-1404 was a feudal ruler of the counties of Holland Hainaut and Zeeland in the Low Countries.This rare pamphlet is a reprint of the original older edition as mentioned on the titlepage 'Na de eerste copye van Amsterdam by Willem Jacobsz. Engelenborgh'. This is Willem Jacobszoon working in Amsterdam from 1548-1568. The legal rules are dated between 1387-1521/ Special sections for Diemen Loosdrecht Weesp and Abcoude. The words 'ende Zeeburch' are a bit out of order they should have been put after 'Aemstellant ende Goylant'. This 17th century pamphlet is rare and of great historical importance.The pamphlet is also mentioned in the catalogue of the literary legacy of Jacobus Koning 1770-1832 in 1833. Jacobus Koning was a bookseller book colleter and published some works on Dutch history. He as also a registrar at the municipal court of Amsterdam in 1811. Member of the KNAW Koninklijke Nederlandse Academie voor Wetenschappen. See our number <strong>B10035 </strong>for this item<strong>. </strong> Rechtsregels voor Amstelland en Gooiland. Herdruk door Van Poolsum van een veel oudere editie gedrukt zoals op de titelpagina is vermeld: 'Na de eerste copye van Amsterdam by Willem Jacobsz. Engelenborgh'. Albert Ier décrit instruments à l'appui stations sondages chalutages courants faunes de profondeur et relevés bathymétriques avec la précision d'un praticien et le phrasé d'un humaniste. Entre 1885 et 1915 il dirigera vingt-huit campagnes totalisant 3 698 stations d'observation ; ses expéditions aux Açores et surtout dans l'Arctique 1898 1899 1906 1907 contribuent à des progrès décisifs pour la cartographie de la zone fixant durablement la place du prince dans l'histoire de l'océanographie et de la géographie polaire. Tout en accédant au trône 10 septembre 1889 et sans se dérober aux responsabilités gouvernementales il donne à Monaco un visage inédit : mécénat scientifique modernisation infralittorale politique culturelle tournée vers la recherche de terrain et le partage des savoirs. Son humanisme pacifiste irrigue ses écrits où science diplomatie et éthique maritime se répondent ; la fracture de 1914 sa neutralité active mise à disposition d'établissements et de moyens de TSF pour le secours aux blessés puis le retournement provoqué par le bombardement de la cathédrale de Reims mèneront son manifeste moral qui prolonge la philosophie du navigateur à La Guerre allemande et la Conscience universelle 1919. La Carrière d'un navigateur fixe la méthode la cartographie et l'imaginaire d'une vie vouée à la mer et la conviction que la science rapproche les peuples et fonde une prospérité morale partagée. Cette édition originale publiée chez Plon est rare dans ce premier tirage imprimé à Monaco ; un exemplaire signé par le Prince étant quant à lui rarissime.
