London: Chatto & Windus 1885. Vellum. Good Only. 7" x 4.5". None. An edition of Charles Gibbon's 'Of High Degree; A Story' originally published in 1883. This copy is scarce. Charles Gibbon was a 19th Century British novelist and biographer who published over thirty works including 'Robin Gray' 'The Dead Heart' and 'For Lack of Gold'. He also edited 'The Casquet of Literature' and wrote a biography about George Combe. Half-bound in vellum with an attractive colourful print which is continued on the edge. Generally smart lightly rubbed in certain spots. Internally Binding loosening in places. Pages 295-298 disbound but complete. Pages generally bright and clean; some spotting to to first and last pages as usual. Good Only Chatto & Windus hardcover
