IN MEMORY'S KITCHEN: A LEGACY FROM THE WOMEN OF TEREZIN
Original Cloth. 8vo. Xliii, 110 pages. 22 cm. First edition. In English with German and Czech text and English translation. The heart of this book is a compilation of remembered recipes written down by malnourished women in Terezin, a Nazi concentration camp in Czechoslovakia. The women of Terezin recorded their recipes as a way to maintain their humanity and bring them comfort in the face of almost certain death. In stark contrast to the meager food they were eating in the camp, the recipes in these pages record the rich and robust tradition of Czech Jewish life. - Publishers description.
