One of his first orders came from Marie Antoinette, who ordered floor paneling from mahogany wood for her boudoir in Fontainebleau from him. Si tratta di un'immagine di estrema importanza per la genesi del soggetto moderno: è infatti specchiandosi in essa che i moderni hanno creduto di trovare il luogo della propria origine. Pur consapevoli della distanza temporale che ci separa dal mondo classico, i moderni hanno infatti attribuito a se stessi la capacità di far rivivere, attraverso una comunanza spirituale con i greci, quell'ideale di umanità compiuta e perfetta che i greci per primi avrebbero saputo incarnare. Scopo del saggio è mostrare come una sapiente modulazione del concetto di cultura - nella sua doppia declinazione di "Bildung" e "Kultur" abbia permesso alla filologia di divenire il luogo disciplinare attraverso il quale la modernità europea ha appreso a gestire, a proprio vantaggio, ogni altro ambito discorsivo in cui è in gioco la differenza tra il medesimo e l'altro.

Neoliberalismo. Un'introduzione critica
brossura Spesso il neoliberalismo viene considerato un'acutizzazione del capitalismo o la semplice estremizzazione del liberalismo. In questo libro si cerca invece di evidenziare come il progetto di dominio neoliberale costituisca un modo inedito di intendere il governo delle vite. Quale antropotecnica di tipo biopolitico, il neoliberalismo sussume ogni aspetto dell'umano sotto le categorie dell'efficienza economica - ma ciò non semplicemente per estendere il dominio del capitale, bensì al fine di costruire una nuova polis paradossalmente priva di ogni mediazione politica. A partire dalle analisi di Foucault sulla biopolitica, l'obiettivo che qui si persegue consiste dunque nel cercare di decostruire le categorie portanti del discorso neoliberale, sia entro la teoria economica sia nel contesto della teoria delle organizzazioni. Alla fine del percorso, la tematica del desiderio - in primis desiderio di giustizia - viene attivata quale possibile punto di partenza per ripensare il senso e gli scopi dell'azione politica.

Postumani per scelta. Verso un'ecosofia dei collettivi
br. Il discorso contemporaneo sul postumano ormai si declina in molti modi. Da un lato, si articola a partire dalla domanda seguente: cosa significa considerare l'uomo un animale tra altri animali? Si è sviluppata in tal modo un'esperienza non solo densa di significati esistenziali, ma anche intrisa di una forte componente spirituale, che ruota attorno a una profonda fratellanza con gli animali di altre specie. D'altro lato, i transumanisti si chiedono invece - e in maniera opposta - come superare la finitezza e la precarietà che caratterizza i viventi e aspirano, grazie all'impiego della bioingegneria e delle scienze dell'artificiale, a produrre un uomo totalmente ibridato con gli artefatti tecnologici. In entrambi i casi, la posta in gioco consiste nel ridefinire i confini dell'umano e il senso della convivenza tra viventi e artefatti entro la nicchia ecologica da tutti condivisa.
