No former owners name. Illustration opposite page 22 has 1 1/2 " clossed tear. Some finger soiling in early pages. Text pages 21 to end are Japanese double fold while most of the pages before are open. They appear to have been professionally cut rather than opened by an owner. There are no "rough" edges. A charming and descriptive narrative of a tour of most of the major islands of the western Pacific including Aukland New Zealand New Caledonia Fiji Samoa Norfolk and the Isle of Pines with a lengthy segment on the Pitcairn Islands. Hood writes extensively on the habits of the numerous native peoples he encountered including thoughts on anthropology polygamy cannibalism religion child rearing and relations with whites.
