PEIS G.
The Man who started the War. [Foreword by Alfred Helmut Naujocks].
8vo., First Edition, some faint offsetting from fold-ins to free endpapers; cloth, gilt back, a very good, clean copy in price-clipped dustwrapper. Naujocks was the SD officer who masterminded the 'Polish' attack at Gleiwitz - the plot that enabled Hitler to declare war. He knew too much, however, and narrowly avoided assassination by his own organisation before surrendering to the Allies. At Nuremberg he was questioned by the author, the youngest report present, and unfolded his extraordinary story. After two years' cross-checking, this book is the result. Uncommon in this condition. Enser, p.205.
