Mussolini Arnaldo; Giuseppe Bottai
Il Fascismo e Le Corporazione
Roma e Milano: Edizioni "Augustea" Quaderni d"Attualita 1931. Wraps. Good. 107 pp. 21 by 16 cm. A comparatively clear and straightforward explanation and defense of the corporatist theory underlying the Fascist movement in Italy. Arnaldo was the brother of Benito and like him a journalist. This screed came out months before he passed away of cardiac arrest at the age of 46. Before his sudden death he was instrumental in forging a reconciliation between the Fascist movement and the Catholic Church. The preface to this essay is also notable because of its authorship Giuseppe Bottai who was a Futurist who then signed on to the Fascist Party and became one of its most influential proponents. The interior is clean other than a few pencil underlinings. The wraps are chipped browned and brittle and there is a crack all the way down the spine.

Edizioni "Augustea" (Quaderni d"Attualita) paperback books

Le giornate del Duce a Genova: 14-15-16 maggio XVI
1938. MUSSOLINI Benito. Le Giornate del Duce a Genova: 14-15-16 maggio XVI. 108 pp. Illustrated throughout with photomontage and reproduced full page etchings by Ettore Mazzini. Folio bound in original embossed boards. Genova: Partito nazionale fascista 1938. A spectacular piece of Fascist book design in the form of a twentieth century Fete Book in this case celebrating a visit to Genoa by Mussolini. The binding depicts St. George slaying the Dragon St. George being considered an important Saint by the Genoese. The endpapers offer a tremendous contrast being dramatically modernist. In addition to photographs of Mussolini arriving parading and generally taking center stage there are interesting photographs of the various celebrations and the latest triumphs of fascist architecture. Some rubbing and staining to the fragile boards and insignificant foxing to the margins of a few plates. A rare book with OCLC listing only The National Gallery and The University of Genoa. hardcover books

Mussolini Benito
TWO PHOTOGRAPHS DISPLAYING THE HANGING CORPSE OF MUSSOLINI.
no place: No publisher 1945. Book. Near fine condition. No Binding. Early edition. Two black & white photographs measuring approximately 4.25 inches x 6.25 inches 105mm x 162mm depicting the upside-down hanging corpse of Italian Fascist Dictator Benito Mussolini and others on April 29 1945. A day earlier Mussolini his mistress Clara Claretta Petacci her brother and the dictator's 15 person entourage of ministers and officials of the Italian Social Republic were captured by partisans. They had been traveling with retreating German forces with Mussolini apparently wearing a German military uniform. They were executed in Giulino di Mezzegra by shooting or firing squad and the bodies transported south of Milan and dumped at the old Piazzale Loreto which was renamed Piazza Quindici Martiri. After the corpses were shot kicked and spat upon the bodies were hung upside-down on meathooks from the roof of an Esso gas station. The bodies were then stoned by civilians. The site had previously been used for executions of partisans by Axis authories. One photographs shows a total of 7 hanging corpses identified only by number. Numbers 4 and 5 are Mussolini and his mistress Petacci. Historical records identify number 3 as Achille Starace. A gas pump is clearly visible in the immediate background as is the gas station. It is almost a straight on shot maybe 15 degrees to the right showing 50-60 spectators and a few men facing the crowd apparently acting as security. There are no G.I.'s shown although 4-5 men in leather jackets standing directly in front of the corpses may be aviators. The other photograph is a close-up of Mussolini and his mistress taken about 45 degrees from the left. There is no photographer's identification on the front or back of the prints. Minor staining to the edges. These are original prints from 1945. No publisher hardcover books
