‎The painter Joos van Cleve (c. 1485/90-1540/41) founded an important and influential workshop in Antwerp at the beginning of the sixteenth century. His business instinct and managerial character ensured that the shop ran smoothly and that there were both local and international clients for his output. More than 300 works are currently attributed to Van Cleve and his workshop. It is a remarkably large oeuvre, far exceeding that of any other contemporary Antwerp artist. The paintings that left his shop are of a superb quality and craftsmanship. Van Cleve and his assistants were responsible for lifelike portraits, altarpieces of varying sizes, and the mass production of popular devotional panels with subjects like The Holy Family, The Madonna of the Cherries and The Infants Christ and St John the Baptist Embracing. How, then, is it possible that these paintings are of such a high quality and craftsmanship? This book contains the answer. The international nature of Antwerp?s economy, and of its art trade in particular, made Joos van Cleve and his paintings known far beyond the confines of the Low Countries. Micha Leeflang (1975) studied technical art history at the University of Groningen, where she defended her dissertation ?Uytnemende Schilder van Antwerpen. Joos van Cleve: atelier, productie en werkmethoden? in 2007. From 2005 to 2007 she was on the staff of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam as curatorial researcher. ‎reference book !! In 1913 the two brothers had saved enough to buy their own glassfactory, together with a friend, Henri Wolf. This factory was located in Epinay-sur-Seine near Paris. 1913 was not a good year to start a business. In 1914 the first world war broke out and till 1918, the brothers did not really start to make art glass. In 1918 they needed money to relight their furnaces and they accepted the help from an English investor. At that moment they were no longer in control of their glassworks. The investor wanted profit and in 1923 it led to a rupture. The Schneider brothers scraped every bit of money that they could find to buy their factory back. Luckily they succeeded. From then on the success came. In 1924 the Schneider glassworks build the biggest concrete hall ever with the most modern furnaces. In 1926 they are the biggest glassfactory in France with almost 500 employees. In 1925 Charles was asked to be a member of the jury at the Exposition des Art Decoratifs in Paris. This meant that his work could not enter the exposition and would not compete with the work of the other artists. It was an honour to be a member of the jury, so he accepted, but maybe it had been better if he had declined for the honour and participated as an artist. He would have swept the competition away. His coupe bijoux and the big black footed bowls in contrasting colours were an enormous success all over the world. Most of their production went to North and South America. The glass of Charles Schneider has such joyfull colours, bright and happy colours like orange and yellow. It looks like the sun shines every day. The little bijoux vases are jewels of technique and shape and colour. The ?Le verre Francais? line had a great success with the stylized flowers in stunning colours. As the majority of the le verre francais glass , was only etched one time, the producing costs were low. The general public loved these bright vases. The success of the Schneider factory continued until 1929. In 1929 the banks on Wall street crashed and rich people lost a lot or all of their money. The market for luxury goods collapsed. Schneider tried to survive by cutting down costs, but this does not help when there are no buyers left. After a struggle of a three years the furnace extinguised in 1932. The factory filed for bankruptcy in 1938. Charles Schneider died in 1953 before the revival of his glass. In the eighties his glass was rediscovered. It has its place now among Galle and Daum glass as their equivalent.‎

Schilderkunst en haiku versmelten voor wie de stilte toelaat. Het element 'tijd' heeft ons ingehaald en is van het oosten naar het westen gereisd. Niets is beeld of spraak, alles is beeldspraak. In dit boek werden vertalingen van de oorspronkelijke haiku's naar het Frans en het Engels opgenomen. Michel Buylen (1953) en Roger de Neef (1941) werkten samen voor deze uitgave in opdracht van Galerie De Zwarte Panter in Antwerpen.‎

‎Op 15 februari 1969 keken 3.800.000 Vlamingen naar hetzelfde tv-programma: de 4de aflevering van het feuilleton Wij, Heren van Zichem. De grondstof voor die serie waren romans en novellen van Ernest Claes (1885-1968). De schrijver, zelf geboren in Zichem, overleed kort voor de opnames begonnen. Op zijn oude dag poseerde Ernest Claes graag als de eeuwig minzame, monkelende verteller, die in zijn leven alleen maar goede mensen was tegengekomen. Maar hij behoorde tot de generatie die twee wereldoorlogen onderging. Behalve schrijver van geliefde volksboeken als De Witte (126 keer herdrukt!), was Claes ook soldaat, krijgsgevangene, politiek militant, belijdend katholiek, ambtenaar, journalist, dagboekschrijver en repressieslachtoffer. Hij zocht zich als Vlaams-nationalist een weg in de woelige twintigste eeuw, langs de afgrond van het fascisme. Ernest Claes, de biografie van een Heer uit Zichem is een afgewogen portret, waarvoor de auteur kon gebruikmaken van het rijke, nooit eerder onderzochte prive-archief en van het gerechtelijke collaboratiedossier van de man die lange tijd Vlaanderens populairste schrijver was. Bert Govaerts (1952) werkte tot 2015 voor de VRT, waar hij zich specialiseerde in historische documentaires, zoals de reeks Land in de Kering, over de gedaanteverwisseling van Vlaanderen tussen 1950 en 2000. Eerder publiceerde hij bij Houtekiet Ik Alleen!, een biografie over Albert De Vleeschauwer.‎

C'est la qu'eclate la richesse de l'interiorite de Paul Delvaux, dont il parlait si peu. Une biographie se lit comme un roman, mais se compose comme un livre d'Histoire.‎

Autre etape capitale dans son oeuvre : la convention de collaboration que Charlotte Perriand signe avec les Ateliers Jean Prouve en 1952.
