‎In deze publicatie gaat de auteur op zoek naar de manier waarop de 17de - en 18de-eeuwse predikanten het vrouw-zijn voorstelden. De kernvragen zijn of er in de toenmalige prediking een latent anti-feminisme te bespeuren valt en hoe men de ondergeschikte positie van de vrouw legitimeerde. In het eerste deel wordt de juridische positie en economische functie van de vrouw ter sprake gebracht, maar ook de literaire, pedagogische en medische vertogen over de vrouw en haar voorstelling in de prentkunst krijgen kort aandacht. Deel twee vertrekt vanuit origineel bronnenonderzoek. Er worden drie belangrijke bijbelse vrouwen (Eva, Maria en Maria-Magdalena) ge ntroduceerd, die in de prediking van de 17de - en 18de - eeuw een exemplarische functie hadden. Er wordt ook stilgestaan bij enkele vooraanstaande dames uit de hoogste kringen, wier deugdzame levenswijze (?) in hoogdravende lijkredes werd opgehemeld en ter navolging aangeprezen. Daarna volgen er hoofdstukken over het jonge meisje, de vrouw als echtgenote en als moeder. Tenslotte komen ook nog alleenstaande vrouwen en de religiositeit van de vrouw aan bod.‎

The words that he impulsively lays down on paper seem to be animated by a spirit of their own and end up creating expressive compositions. The exhibition, showing more than 120 works on paper, photographs, films and never-exhibited-before archive documents, sheds light on the great diversity of Dotremont's logograms. Set foot in the artist's path and discover his wandering creative journey.
