Recueil de 6 vaudevilles et comédies légères, composés par Racot de Grandval, illustrés de planches et bandeaux gravés, accompagnés de partitions, paroles et musiques. Compositeur, claveciniste et auteur dramatique, Nicolas Racot de Grandval (1676-1753) rejoignit Dancourt à la Comédie-Française. Dans le même temps, il accompagnait, au clavecin, la plupart des divertissements et ballets donnés à Versailles. Auteur de nombreuses comédies, il composa également la musique de plusieurs pièces, notamment pour Dancourt et Marc-Antoine Legrand. Rousseurs, mors lég. frottés, sinon bon exemplaire, bien relié à l'époque.

This particular copy is a clean and near-new presentation copy and comes with an extensive file of miscellaneous correspondence relating to the author's requests for photographs and other matters relating to publication and distribution of the book. Scrittore bizantino diacono e maestro a Costantinopoli 1080 ca e poi vescovo di Eraclea in Tracia; autore di opuscoli didascalici in versi di commenti a discorsi di S.Gredorio N. e di catene estratti dei Padri a commento dell'AT e del NT. 3 Michael Psellus/Michele Costantino nome da monaco Psello che significa balbuziente. Costantinopoli 1018-1078; fu un filosofo scrittore politico e storico bizantino. 4 Nònno di Panopoli dal gr. nònnos=puro santo. Fu un poeta bizantino vissuto probabilmente attorno alla prima metà del V sec. Nato a PanopoliEgitto è l'ultimo poeta della letteratura ellenistica LeDionisiache. Dopo la conversione scrisse l'opera in esametri Parafrasi del Vangelo di Giovanni. 5 Elia di Creta. Metropolita di Creta nei secc. XI e XII. Fu un autore di scolii note che gli antichi grammatici scrivevano a commento e illustrazione di un testo per lo più a margine alle Orazioni di S.Gregorio N. di un commento alla Scala del Paradiso di G.Climaco e di Responsa ad Dyonisium monachum. E' venerato come Santo presso i greci. 6 Jacobus Tollius Rhenen 1630 - Utrecht 1696. Fu un filologo olandese a cu si devono traduzioni latine di diverse opere greche. 7 Ludovico Antonio Muratori Vignola 1672 - Modena 1750. Fu un ecclesiastico storico e letterato; noto soprattutto per la raccolta Rerum italicarum scriptores. L'autore esaminato e di cui questa è l'opera omnia è Gregorio Nazianzeno. Nasce verso il 330 ad Arianzo borgata nei pressi di Nazianzo Cappadocia dal cui nome deriva il suo appellativo. Consacrato a Dio fin dalla più tenera infanzia dalla sua piissima madre Santa Nonna è inviato a scuola presso Cesarea di Palestina poi ad Alessandria d'Egitto ed infine ad Atene dove nasce una grande amicizia con il suo conterraneo San Basilio Magno. Gregorio rimane per dieci anni nella capitale ellenica facendo ritorno verso il 359 in Cappadocia e ricevendo il battesimo come consuetudine del tempo all'età di trent'anni. Comincia a vivere intensamente tra una vita ascetica e lo studio in compagnia dell'amico Basilio nella solitudine della valle dell'Iris presso Neocesarea. Lo incontriamosuccessivamente sempre con il suo grandissimo e fraterno amico Basilio nella regione del Ponto. Dopo varie peripezie che lo vedono tornare più volte a Nazianzo Gregorio è nominato patriarca di Costantinopoli nomina alla quale non è estranea l'influenza di San Basilio. Fu soprattutto oratore 45 discorsi di cronologia alquanto incerta: celebri gli Epitafi per il fratello Cesario la sorella Gorgonia il padre s. Basilio; l'Apologia per la sua fuga dopo l'ordinazione sacerdotale; le 5 orazioni teologiche sulla Trinità ed epistolografo 245 lettere; talune come la 243 ad Evagrio di discussa autenticità. 3 volumes in-8 (199 x 120 mm), plein veau raciné de l'époque, dos lisses ornés d'un riche décor Directoire de compartiments alternativement garnis d'une résille et d'un grand fer à l'urne, guirlandes et filets dorés, pièces de titre et de tomaison de maroquin rouge et bronze, tranches citron, (4), viij, 441 p. ; (4), xxij, 419 p. et (4), iv, 516 p. Edition originale des tomes II et III et édition augmentée du tome I d’abord seul paru en 1789. L’ouvrage est imprimé par ordre du gouvernement et soutenu par une pétition des compositeurs de l’Institut national de musique (Méhul, Chérubini, Gossec, Devienne, etc…). Créé en 1793, il deviendra le Conservatoire National Supérieur. Alors au fait de sa gloire comme compositeur, Grétry prend modèle sur les Confessions de Rousseau pour livrer une autobiographie, une oeuvre de moraliste en même temps qu’un essai de musicologie et une analyse de ses propres compositions. Le second volume contient ainsi une "analyse des passions et des caractères" dans leur application à la musique. Le troisième est consacré aux "institutions politiques, considérées dans leurs rapports avec l’art musical", à la composition et à l’esthétique musicale ainsi qu’à une étude sur les liens entre "idées abstraites" et "art musical". L’ouvrage s’achève sur des considérations sur l’avenir de la musique en Europe et sur un récapitulatif exhaustif, par l’auteur, de ses propres oeuvres sous forme de tableau détaillé (titres, auteurs des paroles, lieux des représentations et la place de leur analyse dans le livre).
