An original printed (1856) notice on the front pastedown indicates that this is a costly publication, of great intrinsic value, aside from the illustrations furnished by the Architects. The edition is limited." Thomas Henry Burrowes (1805-1871) was the fourth president of the Pennsylvania State University, serving from 1868 until 1871. He also served as Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 1835 until 1839; and was also the founder of the PA State Normal School System of Teacher's Colleges.
