‎* Fehlendes ökologisches Bewusstsein sowie relativ niedrige Preise bei Gas und Öl führten dazu, dass dem Energiebedarf in der Vergangenheit wenig Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wurde. Heute erkennen wir, dass durch den sorglosen Umgang mit Energie in zunehmendem Maße unsere Umwelt und damit unsere Lebensgrundlage bedroht und zerstört wird. Zielsetzung energiesparenden Bauens ist die Verringerung des Energieeinsatzes und der damit verbundenen Umweltbelastung ohne Einschränkung des Komforts. Das bislang konsequenteste Konzept hierzu ist das Passivhaus. Die passive Nutzung der vorhandenen Wärme reicht hier weit gehend aus, das Gebäude während der Heizperiode auf angenehmen Innentemperaturen zu halten. Inzwischen ist erwiesen, dass sich die Mehrinvestitionen für ein Passivhaus lohnen ? und das bei erhöhtem Wohnkomfort in sonnendurchfluteten Räumen mit ständig zufließender Frischluft. Dies sowie die Energieeinsparungen und die damit zusammenhängende CO2-Minderung sind Argumente für den Baustandard des Passivhauses, der sich gegenüber der konventionellen Bauweise in der Zukunft auf dem Markt durchsetzen wird.‎

Contemporary approaches to cultural historiography not only aim to highlight the continuity of the dimensions of Space and Time but also to effectively examine and explain the pursuit of the 'environmental-formal-institutional-semiotic and evolutionary.'. This comparative study covers historic periods and epochs in Anatolia, the major determinant space, whose history is now proven by archaeological findings to start around 500,000 BC. The built environment in Anatolia has a history of nearly twelve thousand years; the contextual consistency methodology followed here exerts buildings to examine the continuous stages of this cultural history in detail. Limiting the extent to 101 buildings has facilitated focusing on the comparison of their functional and formal features in a historical context; these landmarks only become iconic and gain meaning in a mutual relationship with their immediate environment. This book is a compulsive experimental attempt in contemporary cultural historiography with the classifications and chronological order that have enabled the comparisonof functional and stylistic evolution. Type: Book Spanish museum architecture has experienced a marked upturn since the 1990s fired in part by the worldwide acclaim for Frank O. Gehry's Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Spanish architects have designed unique museums that have changed the look of whole towns from Rafael Moneo's Museo Nacional de Arte Romano in Merida to the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Castilla y Leon in Leon in Castille built by the Madrid architects Mansilla Tunon. Moneo who recently completed the annexe for the Museo del Prado in Madrid may still be the leading figure in Spanish architecture but architects like Mansilla and Tunon who trained under Moneo are now attracting attention internationally as well as in Spain as are even younger talents who have just left architecture school. Spanish architects use a wide variety of formal languages yet there are some characteristics that apply to them all: they are uninterested in Postmodernist games; the modern reinterpretation of regional building traditions is prominent in their practice; they are sensitive to particular features of the environment and topography. Kenneth Frampton observed in this context that Spanish architecture essentially runs counter to the globalisation tendencies that are increasingly reducing architectural form to a comfortable yet formulaic aesthetic product. This book which makes an excellent museum guide shows that this tendency is particularly conspicuous in the new museums and confirms the world-class nature of new Spanish architecture. Klaus Englert studied philosophy and German. He was academic adviser to the Zollverein development company in Essen.
