‎Summary The purpose of this volume is to explore, re-interpret and re-contextualise the various natures of practices performed by the Orthodox and Catholic pilgrims in Balkan countries in their devotional ?path to touch the sacred and holy? through the prism of pilgrimage contents, and their articulating, using, and handling strategies. Inter- and transdisciplinary perspectives constitute a strong point for exploring the essence of this collective practice of worship, which is theoretically and critically interpreted, and chronologically and diachronically analysed. Therefore, the various visions of the authors, formed on the basis of qualitative and critical analysis of primary (ethnographic and folkloric data from field interviews, archive documents, samples, etc.) and secondary sources, come to fill a gap in research on pilgrimage in southeast Europe, and especially on pilgrimage practices in Eastern Orthodoxy. Particularly, the ritual practices, sacred places in contemporary Balkan societies, religious folklore, divine intervention stories, miracle-working icons, relics and reliquaries as part of the structure of pilgrimage are discussed. The authors explore the context in which the Christian shrines in the Balkans are spaces where the ethnic and denominational patterns in pilgrimage are revealed openly on multiple levels; they delve into how the correlative effects between politics and religion are manifested. ‎Shunga is a type of Japanese erotic art typically executed as a kind of ukiyo-e, often in woodblock print format. While rare, there are also extant erotic painted handscrolls which predate ukiyo-e.[1] Translated literally, the Japanese word shunga means picture of spring; "spring" is a common euphemism for sex.[1] Shunga, as a subset of ukiyo-e, was enjoyed by all social groups in the Edo period, despite being out of favor with the shogunate. The ukiyo-e movement sought to idealize contemporary urban living and appeal to the new ch?nin class. Shunga followed the aesthetics of everyday life and widely varied in its depictions of sexuality. Most ukiyo-e artists made shunga at some point in their careers.‎

‎Die Villa Madama befindet sich auf etwa halber Höhe des Monte Marino. Nach Plänen Raphaels (1483-1520) und Antonio da Sangallo d.J. (1484-1546) entstanden, die Dekorationen stammen u.a. von Giulio Romano (um 1499-1546) und Baldassare Peruzzi (1481-1536), war sie wegen ihrer Bauweise und Gartenanlage eines der bekanntesten und vorbildhaften Gebäude des 16. Jahrhunderts. Der Name Madama ist auf Margarethe von Parma (1522-1586) zurückzuführen, einer unehelichen Tochter Kaiser Karl V. und Großnichte von Margarethe von Österreich. 1536 heiratete sie Alessandro de Medici, Herzog von Florenz. Nach dessen Ermordung ein Jahr später heiratete die erst 16jährige 1538 Ottavio Farnese (1524-1586), ein Enkel Papst Paul III. 1559 wurde sie Statthalterin der habsburgischen Niederlande und zog aus diesem Grund nach Brüssel. 1568 kehrte sie nach Italien zurück, wo sie bis auf einen Aufenthalt in Belgien 1580-1583 bis zu ihrem Tode lebte. Nach ihrem Tod fiel die Villa in den Besitz der Familie Farnese, die sie verfallen ließ. Erste Ausbildung erhielt der Künstler von seinem Vater Johann Jakob (1741-1813), der Maler und kurfürstlicher Vizegaleriedirektor war. 1796 wandte sich Dorner ganz der Landschaftsmalerei zu, wobei er sich zunächst an der Malerei Cl. Lorrains (1600-1682), A. van Everdingens (1621-1675) und J. van Ruisdaels (um 1628/29-1682) schulte. 1802-1803 unternahm er eine ausgedehnte Studienreise nach Österreich, in die Schweiz und nach Frankreich. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach München wurde er Restaurator in der Galerie im Hofgarten, 1808 Inspektor der Münchner Galerie. 1811 wurde er zusammen mit M.J. Wagenbauer (1775-1829), C. Dillis (1779-1856) u.a. von König Max I. Joseph beauftragt, für den Speisesaal des Nymphenburger Schlosses Ansichten bayerischer Seen zu malen. 1818 unternahm er eine Studienreise nach Wien. Ein Augenleiden brachte bis 1821 vorübergehend ein eingeschränktes künstlerisches Schaffen. Auch ein 1843 erlittener Schlaganfall, der zur Lähmung der linken Seite führte, hielt ihn nicht von seinem künstlerischen Schaffen ab. Ein Großteil seiner Bildthemen fand Dorner in der Landschaft seiner bayerischen Heimat, die er als einer der ersten künstlerisch wiedergab.‎

"In the architecture world, never to deviate or change routes and positions in the course of design is connected with the virtues of maturity, resolution and consistency. The meaning of this in the academic world is that promotion would be granted in a professional life spent without uttering anything new and therefore bothering. In designing, this means commencing a career with an approved approach and carrying on doing the same thing for a long period in the same line, but without any claims. Doruk Pamir, however, never worried about preserving his position, and thus he was never acquiescent when it came to debating his fields of stubbornness. Pamir gains importance as an architect and social personality. In a country like Turkey, people who do not care for social alliance, interrelation and public support but who fight their own individual wars are exceptional, Pamir is important just because he is exceptional. Yet he is also important because he has been stubborn by means of architecture, pushing against the architectural system established until recent years, and because singularly, he functioned like a kind of resistance centre. He is important also because he never expected future prosperity through preserving his position in reconciliation with the milieu. Furthermore, he has the discernment and human warmth to make fun of himself in a country where subjective, flat seriousness gains easy credits. Then, by setting out from that particular personality, there is the possibility of introspecting and examining architecture in Turkey with a consideration for the rarity of such individuals. That is to say, if such egos were not rare, one cannot help considering what wide frontiers and discussion opportunities the environment would produce".‎
