‎Op de tentoonstelling Vroege Hollanders, Schilderkunst van de late Middeleeuwen in Museum Boijmans van Beuningen (tot 25 mei 2008) is het triptiek De Dans om het gouden kalf een van de topstukken. Jan Piet Filedt Kok is onbetwist de kenner van dit schilderij: al jarenlang is hij erdoor gefascineerd en nog steeds vertelt hij er vol passie over. Over hoe het in de jaren vijftig werd teruggevonden in een duister Parijs' appartement en hoe onlangs de zeventiende-eeuwse, fraai gedecoreerde ebbenhouten lijst werd teruggevonden waarin het toen moet hebben gezeten maar toen werd vervangen door een nagemaakte zestiende-eeuwse lijst. Na restauratie van de ebbenhouten lijst is het schilderij nu in zijn volle glorie in Rotterdam te bewonderen. De achtergronden van het schilderij die in het boek wordt gegeven en de vele detailafbeeldingen, voegen veel toe aan de beleving ervan. Lucas van Leyden (1494-1533) betekende voor zijn tijd wat Rembrandt was voor de Gouden Eeuw. Met veel succes introduceerde hij de renaissance in Holland. Zijn schilderijen zijn levendig, kleurrijk en verhalend en zijn prenten verfijnd en speels. Een van de bekendste schilderijen van de kunstenaar is het drieluik met de Dans om het gouden kalf uit circa 1530, dat zich in de collectie van het Rijksmuseum bevindt. Met zichtbaar plezier verbeeldt Van Leyden het oudtestamentische verhaal. Niet de dans zelf en Mozes die de tafelen met tien geboden woedend kapot smijt staan centraal in het drieluik, maar het volk dat zich overgeeft aan zondig gedrag. Jan Piet Filedt Kok beschrijft het werk van Lucas van Leyden en zijn Dans in het bijzonder. Hij laat ook de tekening zien die zich nder de verflaag bevindt en verschaft inzicht in Lucas' werkwijze en tekentalent.‎

‎Summary Charters and other administrative texts have long had the full attention of medievalists as primary sources in their historiographical work. This also applies to scholars from the Netherlands. Ever since the late Middle Ages, they recognised the value of these sources, included them as testimony in their historiography and gradually began to realise that charters and other documents required a specific form of textual criticism and a special way of editing. In this, Dutch historians usually followed developments abroad. Sometimes, as in the early seventeenth century, they were ahead methodologically, but for long periods they depended for new insights on developments elsewhere. This was especially true in the nineteenth century, when scientific diplomatic methods and editing techniques emerged which would only be introduced and applied in the Netherlands in the next century. Hij paart artistieke kwaliteit aan een gezonde dosis Vlaamse ondernemingszin en dat resulteerde onlangs in zijn stripdebuut Luftwaffles. Omdat een album niet volstaat voor de ambitieuze De Koninck opteerde hij meteen voor een serie: Jack Junior. Aangezien De Koninck ook zijn eigen uitgever is, kan dat allemaal en kan hij ongehinderd uittesten wat hij als stripauteur waard is. De Koninck is een gevestigde kunstschilder. Hij is gespecialiseerd in vliegtuigen en heeft een voorkeur voor de jaren vijftig. Op de luchthaven van Zaventem hangen bijvoorbeeld een aantal van zijn grote werken. De fictieve naam Starbrook Airlines, die in zijn schilderwerk voorkomt, gebruikt hij ook voor het commercialiseren van een chocolademerk waarvoor hij het design ontwierp en dat enkel te verkrijgen is in de duty-freeshops van luchthavens.‎

‎Jaak Fontier (Brugge 1927 - Blankenberge 2017) blijft n van de belangrijkste kunstessayisten in Vlaanderen die de carri re van Luc Peire op de voet heeft gevolgd. Zijn Herinneringen aan Jenny en Luc Peire voltooide hij in 2013. Als postuum eerbetoon aan Fontier wordt de tekst hier voor het eerst gepubliceerd. Op basis van de uitgebreide correspondentie Luc Peire ? Jaak Fontier onderzoekt Marc Peire in een flankerend essay de houding van Luc Peire op de kunstkritiek van Jaak Fontier. We ontdekken hoe Peires reacties en bevindingen nauw aansluiten bij zijn persoonlijkheid en zijn eigen esthetica, waarin hij binnen een overkoepelende synthese evenwicht door tegenwicht nastreeft. Het doek Kasa uit 1952 neemt binnen de stijlontwikkeling van Luc Peire zowel een schakel- als een synthesepositie in; anekdotische details verbinden zich harmonisch met gestileerde abstractie en metafysica. De evenwichtige scenische opstelling en het toepassen van formacolore effenen het pad naar een gepersonaliseerde abstractie. Een analyse. This book examines how the administrative bodies of Amsterdam managed to undertake and complete these immense projects from the viewpoints of urban design, infrastructure, water management, logistics, and finance. A thorough analysis of extant administrative archives and numerous cartographic documents has enabled the author to reconstruct the decision-making process concerning the scale, design, and realization of the extensions. The second part examines in detail the use of the land, public space, and water management.
