Binnen het architectuurprogramma Open Stad realiseerden co rdinator Pieter Uyttenhove en fotografen Hans Bol en Georges Charlier een tentoonstelling in het toen niet in gebruik zijnde Sint-Felixpakhuis. De tentoonstelling was opgevat als een wandeling door het lege gebouw en bestond uit zwart-wit foto's van buurten in de 19de-eeuwse gordel van de stad. Vandaag, 30 jaar later, kan je het werk van Hans Bol en Georges Charlier opnieuw ontdekken. Ze fotografeerden de reeks uit 1993 opnieuw, vanuit exact hetzelfde standpunt. Daarnaast voegden ze nieuwe beelden toe van buurten die in de vorige editie nog niet of onvoldoende in beeld waren gebracht en digitaliseerden ze de foto?s van 1993. Met die ingredi nten is nu in het FelixArchief de nieuwe tentoonstelling De Afgelegde Weg gerealiseerd. Bij de tentoonstelling wordt een portfolio gepubliceerd in de vorm van een handgemaakte doos met daarin een essay, kaarten en losse platen met foto's. De losse platen omvatten 180 hoogwaardige prints van Hans Bol en Georges Charlier uit de campagne van 1993 en uit de nieuwe reeks van 2023. Bijna de helft van de foto's betreft herfotografiebeelden. Het essay van Pieter Uyttenhove handelt over het gebied van de negentiende-eeuwse gordel van Antwerpen, de veranderingen die de stad heeft ondergaan en de wijze waarop de fotografen de verschillende stadsdelen hebben gefotografeerd. Gedetailleerde kaartjes tonen voor elke foto de exacte standplaats en de aanduiding van de opnamehoek.‎

‎In dit boek staat een voorstelling van Phoebus Apollo centraal, geschilderd door de barokke meester Jan Boeckhorst. Phoebus is de zonnegod naar wie The Phoebus Foundation is genoemd. Hij is de beschermer van de muzen en dus van de kunsten. Hij staat ook symbool voor het licht en de zon, en is intens verbonden met de ?gouden tijd?: een mythisch tijdperk vol eindeloze overvloed en rechtvaardigheid. In de reeks ?Phoebus Focus? gaan experts en wetenschappers in op topstukken uit de rijke collectie van kunststichting The Phoebus Foundation. Hans Vlieghe ( 1939) studeerde kunstgeschiedenis aan de universiteit van Gent, waar hij ook enkele jaren werkzaam was als assistent. Hij promoveerde in 1967 over het oeuvre van de Antwerpse kunstschilder Gaspar De Crayer. Na diverse studie- en onderzoeksverblijven in M nchen, Londen, Firenze en Rome ging hij als wetenschappelijk medewerker aan de slag in wat nu het Centrum Rubenianum heet. Daar is hij tevens lid van de raad van bestuur en werkt hij mee aan het Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard. Sinds 1990 is hij lid van de Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van Belgi voor Kunsten en Wetenschappen. Als hoogleraar was Vlieghe verbonden aan de universiteiten van Antwerpen en Leuven. Hij is gespecialiseerd in de Vlaamse schilderkunst van de zeventiende eeuw. Naast zijn onderzoek over De Crayer schreef hij tal van publicaties over (onder meer) Peter Paul Rubens en schilders uit diens entourage, over David II Teniers en Jan Boeckhorst. Sinds 2004 is hij met emeritaat, maar dat weerhoudt hem er niet van om kunsthistorisch onderzoek te blijven uitvoeren.‎

‎Summary In 1997 the canonesses regular of Soeterbeeck moved from their convent in Deursen (the Netherlands) to a nursing home in Nuland. They left behind an old library of considerable size and historical significance that is now the core of the Soeterbeeck Collection at Nijmegen University Library. It is a suitable starting point for telling the story of the historical library of a women's convent with roots in the Modern Devotion, from the community's humble beginnings in 1448 to the present day. This study describes the collective history of all manuscripts and early printed books that are known to have been in communal or personal ownership at Soeterbeeck. It investigates the books' production and delves into their traces of use. Many of these are connected to each other, usually because they were left by the same person or had the same purpose. Such units transcend the level of individual volumes and reveal what might be called the stratification of the historical library as a whole. They can be interpreted in the context of the sisters' personal lives and the convent's communal history. This approach provides insight in the multiplicity of meanings that the books had for their users. ‎Co Westerik is vooral bekend geworden door zijn schilderijen. Zijn productie is klein; slechts drie vier schilderijen per jaar. Bij het maken van een schilderij gaat Westerik uit van een 'ideeschets'. Deze ideeschetsen zijn kleine tekeningen, soms maar een paar centimeter lang en breed, van plotselinge invallen, situaties die een schilderij zouden kunnen worden.
