Byers is laid in as well as a four-fold flyer listing the company's eastern distributors.<p>The report includes summaries of the company's studies of the Rockefeller Center Plaza Rink in NYC the Chicago Stadium the St. Paul Municipal Auditorium in St. Paul Minnesota The Chandler Park Rink in Detroit the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston Texas Madison Square Garden and so on.<p>Producers of Wrought Iron the A.M Byers Company opened its plant in Ambridge Pennsylvania in 1930 shortly after the start of the Great Depression. The company was known for its Byers Process of manufacturing wrought iron to assure production of the metal in quantity while maintaining quality control and uniformity. A multi-ethnic employer the company drew on a work-force of unemployed coal workers and others affected by the depression hiring many first and second-generation immigrants. The fire smoke and sparks from its furnaces and stacks were an early attraction along Route 88. Though the company's business dwindled briefly in the mid-thirties it boomed again during the war thanks to defense contracts. ‎Summary This volume comprises 207 drawings, about half of which are in the Royal Library at Windsor Castle and the rest in the Department of Greece and Rome in the British Museum and numerous public or private collections in the UK and abroad. They depict a wide variety of ancient statues of gods and humans, standing, seated or supine, large and small, whole and fragmentary, mainly of marble but also of bronze, as well as statuettes in marble and alabaster, figurines in bronze and terracotta, both Roman and Etruscan, military trophy groups and phallic sculptures. Also represented are herms, a sizeable series of portrait busts and heads, miniature busts in semi-precious stones and figurative appliqu s. Some are wellknown pieces, from the Barberini, Giustiniani, Medici and Pamphilj collections in Rome, but many are unusual and otherwise unrecorded. The drawings were largely commissioned in the 1630s and 1640s from artists such as Pietro Testa and Vincenzo Leonardi, with smaller groups thereafter, the last in the mid-1680s. The assemblage was probably initially intended by Cassiano for publication as a series of prints for the benefit of antiquarian scholars and artists, complementing the larger quantity of drawings of bas-reliefs which Cassiano had begun to assemble from the early 1620s onwards (published in Part A.III) and constituting the core of the Paper Museum in Cassiano's narrower definition of it in 1654 as 'everything good in marbles and bronze which can provide some information about antiquity'.‎

Construite en 1938 d?apres les plans de l'excellent architecte marcel spittael, elle nous est effectivement parvenue intacte a l'exterieur et a l'interieur. le livre nous plonge dans l?univers de cette demeure mysterieuse que n'habita jamais son commanditaire. la porte franchie, on entre dans un decor fastueux alliant les marbres rares, le palissandre et les feuilles d'or. et puis c'est un enchainement de salons, salon de musique, rotonde aux glaces courbees, vaste bureau de travail, suite parentale, chambres d'amis, salles de bain signe des temps, le garage peut accueillir quatre automobiles. Cette maison-palais fait partie des merveilles de l'Art deco et du modernisme en belgique.illustre Serge Brison est photographe a bruxelles, specialise dans l'architecture. Villa Muller, een van de mooiste art Deco en modernistische architectuur in Belgie, heeft de naam van de opdrachtgevers, realisatie van Architect Marcel Spittael is verwant met andere realisaties van robert Mallet Stevens, Jozef Hoffmann en ook Michel Polak, 1938 Sint-Genesius-Rode; Monumentale villa in nieuwe zakelijkheid gelegen te midden van een omhaagde tuin op een hoekperceel tussen de Beukenlaan en de Haagdoornlaan in de wijk Middenhut. In 1938 ontworpen door Brussels architect Marcel Spittael in opdracht van A. Muller. Volgens de bouwplannen lag op de benedenverdieping de living met halfronde loggia achteraan links van de inkomhal met 'grand escalier' en vestibule en rechts de eetkamer met aansluitend 'office'. Rechts van de eetkamer waren verschillende dienstvertrekken gegroepeerd, onder meer de keuken en de wasplaats. Ook de diensttrap bevond zich hier. De achtergevel geeft uit op een vijver. Hoofdvolume van twee bouwlagen onder plat dak, met hoger opgetrokken westvleugel van drie bouwlagen, het geheel uitgevoerd in geelbruine baksteen met dudokvoeg. Onregelmatige travee-indeling. Strakke, zakelijke vormgeving met kenmerkende verspringende volumes. Inkompartij geaccentueerd door een halfronde erker op pilotis, op de verdieping voorzien van een venster met gebogen glas en fijne horizontale roedeverdeling. Doorgetrokken lateien in witte natuursteen boven de rechthoekige muuropeningen zorgen voor een horizontaliserend effect. Typerende vlaggenmast aan de oostgevel. Vooruitspringende dubbele garage uit de bouwperiode, voorzien van een bandvenster met fijne roedeverdeling, ten westen aansluitend aan het hoofdvolume. Binnen het patrimonium van de gemeente is dit een zeldzaam, grootschalig en verzorgd uitgewerkt voorbeeld van baksteenarchitectuur uit het interbellum. Dit 'maison-palais', een toonbeeld van art deco en modernisme, zou naar verluidt ook qua interieur gaaf bewaard zijn.‎

‎Avertissement La Colonne de la Grande Armée, ce monument impérissable de la gloire des soldats français, était peu connue dans tous ses détails, son élévation empêchant l'oeil de distinguer jusqu'à son sommet les sculptures qui l'entourent. Les bas-reliefs, au nombre de quatre-vingts, représentent, dans une suite de belles compositions, tous les faits importants de l'étonnante campagne de 1805, depuis la levée du camp de Boulogne, jusqu'à la paix de Presbourg. J'ai pensé qu'il serait agréable aux nombreux admirateurs de notre gloire nationale, et aux braves qui l'ont élevée à un si haut degré, de posséder une description exacte du seul monument érigé à la Grande Armée par son illustre chef. En conséquence, j'ai dessiné et gravé avec le plus grand soin la vue générale, les piédestaux, bas-reliefs, statue et médailles dont il se compose, et n'ai rien négligé pour que l'exécution réponde à la noblesse du sujet, et que cet ouvrage forme, pour ainsi dire, le chapiteau du beau monument des Victoires et Conquêtes élevé par M. The authors discusses and illustrates the construction development of these systems within a building as well as the response of the general building construction to the incorporation of these systems. Case studies of nine buildings provide an on-the-job look at wide range of building uses sizes and forms of construction. Pages are clean no writing underlining or highlighting but beginning to yellow with age. Binding is tight with no cracks or breaks. Boards have some minor scuffing/light bumping to edges. Unclipped pictorial DJ and endpapers are lightly sunned with some minor shelfwear a few small nicks to edges light bumping rubbing to corners. Looks nice in protective mylar covering.
