Tout au long du XXe siècle, le design italien a marqué de façon hautement originale la conception des objets d'usage courant dans notre société industrielle contemporaine. Ce " mode italien " a su, à travers un parcours aussi complexe qu'incertain d'Innovation industrielle et de mise à jour technologique, développer une culture du design autonome et multiforme, en mesure de concilier une tradition artisanale richissime et l'aspiration, souvent contestée, vers une modernité faite d'éclairs d'Improvisation et d'ironie joints à une tendance laborieuse à l'expérimentation. Les phénomènes culturels et artistiques de l'histoire du design italien n'ont pas encore fait l'objet d'une lecture approfondie en ce sens ; en particulier, on a jusqu'ici peu étudié la synergie qui tout au long du XXe siècle s'est opérée en Italie entre l'expérimentation artistique et le design innovateur. L'exposition et ce catalogue se proposent donc d'offrir une première reconnaissance de ces liens à travers l'exploration des différentes manières dont, en Italie, la société industrielle a été perçue, les artistes et les designers qui l'ont vécue, mais aussi en partie " inventée ". L'exposition, où figurent plus de 350 œuvres parmi les plus représentatives de la recherche artistique et de la culture du design en Italie au XXe siècle, se développe chronologiquement en quatre sections où sont définies les différentes périodes du propos philosophique, économique et esthétique qui a caractérisé le passé récent de l'art et du design italiens. Dans cette optique prennent forme les " philosophies " du design et les " esthétiques " qui, tout au long de cette période, ont trouvé dans ce pays une expression forte et dialectique et sont à la base d'un débat culturel très vivant sur l'art et le design. Nel corso del XX secolo, il design italiano ha segnato in modo molto originale il design di oggetti di uso quotidiano nella nostra società industriale contemporanea. Questa "moda italiana" è riuscita, attraverso un percorso complesso e incerto di innovazione industriale e aggiornamento tecnologico, a sviluppare una cultura progettuale autonoma e multiforme, capace di conciliare una tradizione e un'aspirazione ricchissima e spesso contestata, verso una modernità fatta di sprazzi di improvvisazione e ironia, unita a una laboriosa tendenza alla sperimentazione. I fenomeni culturali e artistici della storia del design italiano non sono stati ancora oggetto di una lettura approfondita in tal senso; in particolare, abbiamo finora studiato poco la sinergia che in tutto il Novecento ha avuto luogo in Italia tra sperimentazione artistica e design innovativo. La mostra e questo catalogo propongono quindi di offrire un primo riconoscimento di questi collegamenti attraverso l'esplorazione dei diversi modi in cui la società industriale è stata percepita, gli artisti e i designer che l'hanno vissuta, ma anche parzialmente "inventato". La mostra, espone più di 350 opere degli artisti più rappresentativi della cultura di ricerca e progettazione in Italia nel XX secolo, si sviluppa cronologicamente in quattro sezioni che definiscono i diversi periodi che seguono le linee filosofica, economica ed estetica che hanno caratterizzato il recente passato dell'arte e del design italiano. In quest'ottica prendono forma "le filosofie" del "disegn e dell'estetico" che, per tutto questo periodo si sono trovati in un paese dalla forte espressione dialettica e sono alla base di un dibattito culturale vivace arte e design.

RARE collection of papers on the Fantoni family of artisans, together with a comprehensive catalog of works by the important Bergamese family of woodcarver sculptors and architects who between the second half of the 1400s and the end of the 1700s founded one of the most active artisan workshops in the area of Bergamo and its valleys, becaming known as the "Fantoni's workshop". The earliest records of the family date back to the 14th century with surnames De Elefantonibus, De Faritonibus, De Fantonis Fantonus, Fantonis, becoming Fantoni in the 18th century. Despite the high artistic quality of their works, the Fantoni family didn't become known to the wide public and their works are known mainly to art historians. Edition originale de premier tirage. L'iconographie se compose d'un frontispice allégorique, d'un feuillet héraldique gravé de dédicace au grand collectionneur Everhard Jabach, d'un titre gravé portant: “Explication par figures et par discours… par A. Bosse” et de 31 planches hors texte, dont une dépliante, disposées sur 17 feuillets, certaines recto/verso, ensemble gravé par A. Bosse. C’est dans cet ouvrage qu’Abraham Bosse livre le résultat des recherches approfondies entreprises avec Robert Nanteuil, sur la question de la représentation de la perspective sur des surfaces non planes ("Tableaux ou surfaces de diverses situations & différemment courbés en voûte, en angle"). "C'est à Abraham Bosse que revient l'approfondissement de la question de la perspective atmosphérique, peut-être en vertu de sa pratique d'aquafortiste, où le travail des morsures nécessite une grande maîtrise de la différenciation des valeurs et des plans dans l'espace. La volonté de s'adresser aux peintres conduit Bosse à vouloir faire de ce principe rationnel une procédure qui s'inscrit dans la même logique opératoire, comme elle le pousse à penser la question non plus en termes seulement graphique, mais en termes de couleurs" (cf.
