‎Leblanc a t co-fondateur de G58, il est entr en contact avec l'avant-garde internationale, comme le groupe allemand Zero (1958-1966), Nul des Pays-Bas (1960-1965) et est devenu membre du mouvement international Nouvelle Tendance (1961- 1968) En 1959, Leblanc introduit la torsion comme l ment de base dans son ?uvre. Dans les Twisted Strings, des fils de coton torsad s taient tendus sur une surface monochrome, g n ralement blanche. En fonction du mouvement du spectateur et de l'incidence variable de la lumi re sur le relief, un effet d'optique vibrant se cr e dans l'?il du participant. Dans les Mobilo Static, les fils de coton ont t remplac s par des rubans en polyvinyle bicolore. Les Torsions se sont ensuite d velopp es en sculptures autoportantes en m tal laqu ou en bois. En 1975, les Arch types, s ries programm es, sont cr es dans lesquelles Leblanc explore les possibilit s de combinaison de formes g om triques de base, telles que le triangle, le carr , le cercle et leurs d riv s travers des dessins et des sculptures en acier oxyd . Dans toute l'?uvre de l'artiste, on a tendance sortir des sentiers battus. Dans les Arch types, cela s'accompagne d'une monumentalit croissante qui atteint son paroxysme avec l'int gration architecturale dans Simonis (station de m tro) Bruxelles (1981-1986). Son sens de la monumentalit et un design pur et g om trique, ainsi que la construction modulaire, s rielle et syst matique de ses ?uvres, montrent une affinit avec le minimalisme. Mais contrairement au caract re industriel de l'art minimal, les ?uvres de Leblanc t moignent d'une simplicit po tique et subtile. De 1977 1986, Walter Leblanc a enseign l'Institut National Sup rieur d'Architecture et d'Urbanisme d'Anvers.‎

‎Summary The book analyzes the origin and development of the notion of the will in Saint Augustine's oeuvre. Organized chronologically, this study starts with an overview of the notion of the will in philosophical and Christian traditions anterior to Augustine as well as in Manichaeism (part 1). Part 2 shows that Augustine turns to the notion of the will in his early works in order to explain the origin of evil. At this stage, inspired by Stoicism and the works of Cicero, Augustine equates human will to power, potestas, and believes that good will is always capable to accomplish a good action on its own. Later, in the midst of anti-Manichaean polemics, Augustine recognizes the power that good and bad habits possess over the human soul, but continues to assert will's dominance over passions and habits (part 3). Subsequently, an extensive reading of the Scripture, especially of Paul's Epistles, leads Augustine to assert that will's capacity to act well or badly depends on the source where will takes its delight, rather than on its obedience to the mind (part 4). At the time when he writes his Confessions, Augustine is convinced that after original sin, human will lost its capacity to delight in the spiritual reality. By consequence, human will is unable to act well on its own. Only divine grace can restore will's capacity to delight in God freely and to act well. ‎Summary Early medieval manuscripts were commonly annotated not only by glosses but also by annotation symbols. These graphic signs inserted in manuscript margins provided manuscript text with layers of additional meaning and functionality. From the most common signs marking biblical quotations and passages of interest to the sophisticated systems of signs used by some of the early medieval scholars, annotation symbols represent perhaps the most common form of marginalia encountered in early medieval books. Yet, their non-verbal character proved a serious obstacle to their understanding and appreciation. This book represents the first systematic study of annotation symbols used in the Latin West between c. 400 and c. 900. Combining paleographic evidence with the evidence of written sources such as late antique and early medieval lists of signs, this book identifies the most important communities of sign users and conventions in use in the early Middle Ages. It explores some of the notable differences between regions, periods, linguistic communities and classes of users and reconstructs a fascinating history of the practice of using signs, rather than words, to annotate text.
