‎(Die Aluminiumbronzen) Im Jahre 1941 gab das Deutsche Kupfer-Institut E. V. eine Schrift 'Die Aluminiumbronzen' heraus, die sich im wesentlichen auf eine gleichnamige, von Herrn Dr. A. Voce verfaßte Veröffentlichung der Copper Development Association, London, stützte. Die Schrift hat nach ihrem Erscheinen großen Anklang gefunden und ist seit langem vergriffen. Aus diesem Grunde hat sich das Deutsche Kupfer-Institut zu einer Neuauflage entschlossen, die hiermit der Offentlichkeit übergeben wird. Als Grundlage diente wiederum eine Übersetzung der englischen Schrift 'Aluminium Bronze', Ausgabe 1957, die freundlicherweise von Herrn Dr. rer. nat. E. Tuschy, Osnabrück, besorgt wurde. Das vorliegende Buch zeigt in Gliederung und Text gegenüber dieser englischen Ausgabe gewisse Abweichungen und trägt damit der inzwischen eingetretenen technischen Entwicklung Rechnung. Die einzelnen Abschnitte wurden überarbeitet und teils umgestaltet. Der Abschnitt 'Wärmebehandlung' wurde von Herrn Dipl.-Ing. E. Brunhuber, München, ergänzt, und der Abschnitt 'Schweißen' von Herrn Dipl-Ing. H. Klein, Osnabrück, neu gefaßt. (Vorwort)‎

Of the discovered works of African sculpture that are more than a century old, at least ninety per cent are Nigerian, and it is in Nigeria alone that we can trace the history of tribal art during more than 2,000 years. NIGERIAN IMAGES was first published over a quarter of a century ago and rapidly achieved the status of a classic. It consists of a magnificent compilation of photographs illustrating this rich and brilliantly varied art history, together with an interpretation of it by a distinguished ethnographer and art historian. In superb plates and penetrating historical analysis, NIGERIAN IMAGES reveals the complexity and richness of tribal art forms and relates them to the cultural, philosophical, and political world in which they were created. The volume has been out of print for many years, and its reissue will enable a new generation of students of African art and culture to savour the intellectual excitement that was generated when it first appeared. The first part of the text, illustrated by 77 plates - of both rare, little-known pieces and some of the classic heads that have become famous the world over - considers Nigerian art prior to about 1850. European miners first began to mine tin in Nigeria early in this century, but it was not until some forty years later that it was realised that priceless works of art were being crushed and discarded every day in the spoil heaps around the mines. These were primarily terra cottas from the Nok culture - magnificent figures dating from about 500 B.C.-A.D. 200, and they are the starting point for the author's survey. There follows an analysis of Ife terra cottas a thousand years later and the famous Benin bronzes. In the second part of the book, illustrated with 68 plates, William Fagg discusses Nigerian art since about 1850, including the remarkable beauty of the "ibruba wood carvings, the masks of the Ibibio and Mama, and the ivories, drums, and other pieces from many other tribes as well, vigorously rejecting the view that it has shown any decline in vitality, power, or conceptual originality from the earlier works. William Fagg, formerly of the Department of Ethnography in the British Museum and the Museum of Mankind, has provided not only an invaluable introduction to the development of tribal arts, but many new and important interpretations and attributions. Sie wurde in limitierter Auflage herausgegeben (Gold, Silber, Bronze). Die Bronze-Medaille ist jene mit dem größten Format (Durchmesser: 6 statt 3 cm) und wurde in 1000 Exemplaren angefertigt. Die vorliegende Medaille hat die Nummer 36. Sie zeigt auf beiden Seiten ein Motiv aus dem Cervantes-Werk, auf der Rückseite zudem den Zusatz "Altea, Dulcinea". Sehr seltene Bronze-Gestaltung des Malers und Grafikers Eberhard Schlotter!‎
