‎Alberto Giacometti's Woman with Her Throat Cut, 1932‎

‎Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, 1980. Softcover. White wraps, 32 pp. BW illus. A study of one sculpture rendered by Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966). It is also a puzzling, enigmatic work on first acquaintance. ‎Alibis: Sigmar Polke, 1963-2010‎

‎New York, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2014. Hardcover. BW slightly textured boards, 320 pp. many BW & color illus.; weighs 5 lbs. Issued in conjunction with a series of 2014-2015 exhibitions featuring "the first comprehensive retrospective" of the work of German artist Sigmar Polke (1941-2010). "Polke blurred the boundaries of his mediums, avoiding any one signature style -- a fluidity that functioned as a kind of alibi, always keeping the artist just out of reach. The idea of the alibi is also a reminder of the willful blindness that shaped German behavior during the Nazi period, compelling Polke and others to reinvent the role of the artist in society." (publisher) With 17 thematic and illustrated essays and many examples of Polke's creativity, this volume is a solid introduction to this artist. VG .‎
