‎1945 Gouache et collage, 21 x 13.5 cm, (1945).‎

‎Maquette préparatoire à la gouache représentant deux jeunes-femmes nues aux longs cheveux ondulés se font face. L'évocation au parfum "Ondes" des Parfums Rival se traduit par la légèreté et la sensualité des cheveux et par le violon qui séparent les deux femmes. Raymond Savignac se forme en autodidacte jusqu'à ce qu'il rencontre Cassandre en 1933 ; il devient son élève, et s'associe avec Bernard Villemot. Ses publicités séduisent par des gags visuels et des associations ludiques. Il travaille pour les marques Rival, Air France, Frigeco, Bic, Citroën... Rival, célèbre maison de parfums, qui a été fondée en 1939 par Jean Clavelier à Neuilly. Maquette originale, réalisée par Raymond Savignac, pour une carte publicitaire pour le parfumeur Rival. Ces cartes étaient offertes afin de promouvoir le parfum nommé. Parfois elles étaient même parfumées ! (Source Clarence Duchesne).‎

‎Deux maquettes préparatoires à la gouache, 21 x 13.5cm, en couleurs, avec vignette imprimée en couleurs contrecollée au centre, (1945).‎

‎La tête d'un cerf bicolore (marron et noir), aux bois qui se terminent par des branchages, sert de support à un sac, à une valise et à une paire de bottes bicolores (noire et marron). Les senteurs automnales et boisées du Parfum Rival sont symbolisées par les tons chauds (marron-noir-rose), par les objets et la tête du cerf qui évoquent la chasse et la nature. Joint un calque sur lequel a été collée une imagerie XIXè représentant une locomotive à vapeur. L'imagerie s'insère dans l'espace libéré entre les bois de l'animal. L'autre maquette représente une amazone 1880 collée au centre de la maquette, entourée d'une rangée d'arbres aux tons verts et brique sur un fond linéaire vert clair. Raymond SAVIGNAC se forme en autodidacte jusqu'à ce qu'il rencontre CASSANDRE en 1933 ; il devient son élève, et s'associe avec Bernard VILLEMOT. Ses publicités séduisent par des gags visuels et des associations ludiques. Il travaille pour les marques Rival, Air France, Frigeco, Bic, Citroën... RIVAL, célèbre maison de parfums, a été fondée en 1939 par Jean CLAVELIER à Neuilly.‎

‎"Hotel Gems of France" is the first in a series of books profiling what one might consider to be the world's dream vacation hotels. To me, it's a perfect scaled-down blend between the "Resorts & Great Hotels" and "Architectural Digest" magazines. There are 34 "gems" in this book, each portrayed in four to eight pages of text and gorgeous photographs. The back of the book contains an excellent section of factual information (e.g., rooms, facilities, activities, location), plus a map of France pinpointing the location of each hotel. I wouldn't necessarily use this book as a travel planning tool unless I had lots of time and was expecting to cover lots of territory. There are probably more than 34 hotels just in the Latin Quarter of Paris, so taking this number within all of France doesn't make for useful comparisons. Also, there are no rate listings for any of the hotels, but I'd guess that the term "upscale" would fairly describe the price, as it surely does the quality of the properties. Still, for those who enjoy superb photography, or who wish to get an introduction to France's beauty, or who might REALLY go on a dream vacation, this is a wonderful book. If I were rating this with my heart and eyes only, it would be 5 stars.‎
