‎De westerse media noemden het hoopvol 'de Arabische Lente', want eindelijk ging het met het Midden-Oosten de goede kant uit. De regio stond op de drempel van de democratie en zou het extremisme goeddeels naar de geschiedenisboeken verbannen. Maar niet iedereen was overtuigd van de goede afloop. Alleen was die visie taboe en bleven we langer geloven in het sprookje dan goed was. Gebeurtenissen werden verzwegen of opgeklopt, gissingen deden zich voor als de waarheid. Een van die fata morgana's, de opstand van het geweldloze volk tegen de brutale verdrukker, vervaagde langzaam maar zeker. De conclusie was ontnuchterend. In de lijn van De Arabische revolutie en van ruim een kwarteeuw verslaggeving over deze roerige regio, rapporteert Jef Lambrecht als een van de zeer weinigen met gepaste afstandelijkheid en onpartijdigheid over de Arabische cocktail. Jef Lambrecht (1948) was van 1978 tot 2010 journalist bij de VRT-radio, gespecialiseerd in het Midden-Oosten. Hij publiceerde eerder IX-XI. Hoe 11 september mogelijk werd (2002), De Zwarte Wieg. Irak, nazi's en neoconservatieven (2003), De heilige wereldoorlog. Halfweg de kruistocht tegen het moslimterrorisme (2009). De Arabische cocktail is daar het vervolg op.‎

‎The doctrine of the Three Bodies of a Buddha (Body of the Law, Body of Enjoyment and Transformation Body) is doubtless one of the principal tenets of Mahayana Buddhism. Two Chinese versions of the Sutra of Golden Light deal with this important conception in detail whereas the extant Sanskrit text does not contain this section. One of these translations which was carried out by the famous Buddhist scholar Yijing was again translated into Uygur and is well-known under the title Altun Yaruk Sudur. With regard to the number of extant copies the Altun Yaruk Sudur is the most important work in Uygur Buddhism. This translation which is attributed to ?i?ko ? li Tutu? contains some longer glosses that are not to be found in any other version of the Sutra and display a special development of the doctrine of the Three Bodies. In this study the chapter in question is edited by making use of the famous manuscript which is housed in St. Petersburg in consideration of the variants found in the fragments of the Berlin Turfan Collection. The Berlin fragments are edited seperately as a whole in transcription and transliteration. A fresh translation is confronted with the original Uygur text. An extensive commentary and an Uygur-Chinese-Tibetan-Mongolian-German glossary complete the edition. In the introduction questions of textual tradition, parallels in other works and the problem of different translations into Uygur are discussed in detail.‎

‎Het wonderjaar van een fijne jonge Kannibaal Nooit heeft een renner een wielerseizoen zo gedomineerd als Eddy Merckx in 1969. Hij wint een indrukwekkende reeks topkoersen: Parijs-Nice, Milaan-Sanremo, de Ronde van Vlaanderen, Luik-Bastenaken-Luik n de Tour de France. De manierwaarop hij dat doet, voert ons terug naar het vooroorlogse wielrennen. Hij gaat geregeld 100 kilometer of meer in de aanval en wint zware wedstrijden met maar liefst 8 minuten voorsprong, zoals Luik-Bastenaken-Luik of de koninginnenrit in de Tour over de Pyrenee ncols Tourmalet en Aubisque. In het eindklassement van de Ronde van Frankrijk gaat hij de nummer 2, Roger Pingeon, met bijna 18 minuten vooraf. 1969 is voor Eddy Merckx ook een jaar met veel drama. Hij wordt met de roze leiderstrui om de schouders uit de Ronde van Itali gezet na een betwiste positieve dopingcontrole. In het najaar komt hij zwaar ten val tijdens een dernymeeting in Blois, waardoor hij nooit meer pijnloos kan klimmen. Ditboek blikt gedetailleerd terug op het formidabele wielerseizoen 1969. Ook Merckx zelf, zijn familie en ploegmaats geven uitleg bij alle belangrijke gebeurtenissen van dat jaar. Bovendien vertellen de toprenners van dat wielerseizoen hun kant van het verhaal. Bij de Belgische grote namen zijn dat onder meer Roger De Vlaeminck, Walter Godefroot, Herman Vanspringel, Lucien Van Impe, Eric Leman, Frans Verbeeck, Guido Reybrouck, Martin Van den Bossche, Willy Vekemansen Roger Swerts.
