Unfortunately he died before he could finish his work and this volume includes only the first paragraph as its introduction to what would have been a longer work planned as part of the main fabric of English literature. Nonetheless it remains a thorough and interesting insight. Containing 'The Battle of Maldon' 'Judith' 'The Fates and Gifts of Men' 'Gnomic Verses' and many more.
