Slight rubbing to front edge of spine small creases to lower front corner. Contents of the book are clean and unmarked and the page corners are square. A copy in which the internal contents more than make up for any superficial damage to the covers. After selling the film rights to Naked City his best-selling book of gritty crime scenes and nocturnal New York street photography he moved to Los Angeles in 1947 staying for four years. Weegee shot thousands of images during his stint on the West Coast which is where the content of this book came from. He was drawn to the absurd extremes of the city as well as its banalities photographing movie premiers awards ceremonies costume shops strip clubs and Skid Row with a keen and mischievous eye. He also began experimenting with his images to create distorted and surreal results. This is the first DaCapo paperback edition which reproduces the contents of the original hardcover edition. . Both front corners and the bottom rear corners are exposed through the cloth but cloth otherwise shows strong color. Previous owner's name in blue ink on front pasted down endpaper. Slight toning on the endpapers faint crease to first two pages but no creases to pages with photos. No dust jacket. Contents of the book are clean and unmarked and the page corners are square. A copy in which the internal contents more than make up for any superficial damage to the covers.
