This copy is slightly shelf worn else very good condition handwritten letter laid in requesting a review. Evidently selections from an unaltered diary kept between Dec '58 scene a Tacoma hotel room to June '66 the Bowery; depressing sexual activity alternates with starings out of flophouse windows. Includes a stock portrait of and elegy for Richard Farina whom Mel misses. Mel figures in David Felton's cult-study "Mindfuckers" where we read that "Many of Lyman's followers are like thousands of us who have experienced the profoundest anxieties loneliness and fear while tripping on LSD. So they found Mel who did speak the truth about it but who took the truth and those fears and twisted them and used them to humiliate and control An American Avatar Publication paperback

Mimeo tags affixed to the versos some tags are detached but present and the tape used has left faint discoloration to the stills. Based on Macdonald's 1950 hard-boiled detective novel about a detective named Harper Paul Newman who investigates a blackmail scheme that involves his ex-girlfriend Iris Joanne Woodward and her wild daughter Melanie Griffith in her second credited role. The second adaptation of Macdonald's "Lew Archer" novels the other being "Harper" 1966 with Paul Newman's character renamed "Harper." Set in Louisiana and shot on location. 8 x 10 inches a couple of stills slightly smaller. Slight discoloration else Near Fine. Complete collation details available on request.
