Über den AutorJohann Kräftner Studium der Architektur mit Schwerpunkt Kunstgeschichte und Denkmalpflege in Wien. 1998 übernahm er die Leitung der Abt. für architektonische Gestaltungslehre an der Technischen Universität Wien. Er war als Architekt für die Gestaltung von Ausstellungen und Schausammlungen verantwortlich und leitete den Umbau des Gartenpalais Liechtenstein. Seit 2002 ist er Direktor des Liechtenstein Museum und der Fürstlichen Sammlungen in Vaduz. Ich war schon längere Zeit auf der Suche nach einem Buch das Rubens und seinen Werken gerecht wird erstaunlicherweise gibt es im Buchhandel aber kaum Publikationen auf die das zutrifft. Dieses Buch ist anders. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Werke von Rubens aus dem Kunsthistorischen Museum Wien den Sammlungen des Fürsten von und zu Liechtenstein und der Gemäldegalerie der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien. Die rund neunzig Gemälde werden anhand von kurzen Texten ausführlich erklärt und oft mit Vorzeichnungen oder Vorstudien auch aus anderen Sammlungen präsentiert. Äußerst ansprechend sind die sehr hohe Qualität der Abbildungen und die vielen Detailausschnitte die dem Leser das Gefühl geben tatsächlich das Original vor Augen zu haben.
