Denis, Van Dongen, Rodin, Pissaro, Mucha, Toulouse-Lautrec, Steinlen, Laboureur, Jongkind, Helleu, Bonnard, Vallotton, etc. Les 12 couvertures illustrées (par MUCHA, DE FEURE, DARBOUR, VERNEUIL, DROGUE, BELLERY DESFONTAINES,BERTON, PROUVÉ, BELLEVILLE, TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, LENOIR) sont presentes. Revue fondée par la corporation française des graveurs sur bois, publiée sous la direction littéraire de Roger Marx et Jules Rais et sous la direction artistique de Tony Beltrand, Auguste Lepère et Léon Ruffe. Textes d'Arsène Alexandre, Barrès, Debussy, R. de Gourmont, P. Louÿs, Mauclair, Mellerio, Rodenbach et Verhaeren, illustrés par Auriol, Cheret, Degas, Denis, Doudelet, Van Dongen, De Feure, Grasset, Lepère, Maillol, Millet, Mucha, Lucien Pissaro, Steinlen, Toulouse-Lautrec, Valloton. Exemplaire complet de cette revue fondée par la jeune corporation française des graveurs sur bois, et publiée par l'éditeur des lithographies de Toulouse-Lautrec (Au pied du Sinaï, Histoires naturelles, Café-Concert). L'Image compte parmi les plus belles réalisations de l'édition d'art ""Fin de Siècle"". Les directeurs de la revue, et notamment le célèbre graveur Auguste Lepère, fondateur de la corporation, tentèrent d'y rassembler et promouvoir, selon l'idée d'Arts and Crafts et de l'Art Nouveau, le savoir-faire des artisans de la gravure sur bois menacé par l'utilisation de procédés plus rapides et de moindre qualité. "L'après-guerre ouvre une période heureuse et prospère pour Collioure qui attire alors à elle des artistes désireux de renouer avec le plaisir de la création et une certaine insouciance. Pendant un peu plus de 20 ans, Collioure, à l'instar d'autres villages de la côte méditerranéenne, construit sa légende. Ce Collioure, joyeux et festif, vibre autour de quelques personnalités fortes. Willy Mucha, René Pous, Balbino Giner aimantent autour d'eux artistes mais aussi stars du show-biz se mêlant dans une ambiance où le travail n'exclut pas la fête. On va à Collioure autant pour voir que pour être vu. Les derniers feux de la cité des peintres brillent alors de tout leur éclat avant que ne s'opère la mutation de cette côte en aire de loisirs sous la pression de l'héliotropisme et de l'aménagement touristique. Chaque livraison comportait 4 planches en lithographie, des plus belles affiches illustrées des grands artistes français et étrangers. Chaque livraison comportait 4 planches de reproduction en chromolithographie d'une remarquable qualité d'impression des plus belles affiches illustrées des grands artistes français et étrangers (auxquelles il faut ajouter 16 planches de lithographies originales données en prime aux abonnés). Lors de l'Exposition universelle de 1889, fut organisée la première exposition rétrospective dévolue à l'affiche, celle-ci devait valider la reconnaissance officielle d'appartenance de l'affiche au monde de l'art. Jules Chéret (1836-1932) y sera sacré '' Maître de l'affiche '', c'est aussi à cette date que Seurat commencera à collectionner les affiches de Chéret. Printed on both sides. = A fine set of six Art Nouveau postcards with full colour illustrations after the great Jugendstil artist Alfons "Alphonse" Maria Mucha 1860-1939 with his autograph. The publisher is unknown. Probably published in the Netherlands as a Belgian publisher would more probably have printed a French as well as a Dutch text. Well-preserved. Not used. Slight age-toning a few tiny irregularities - including a small spot on one card - at the edges otherwise very good unmarked. Rare as we found no reference at all although a very similar card is known from a French publisher. unknown
