‎[Abbaye Notre-Dame de la Trappe]. Tableaux representans au naturel tout ce qui se passe en la maison Dieu Nôtre dame de la Trappe de l'Étroitte observance de l'ordre de Cisteaux diocèse de Sées, depuis que cette Abbaye a esté mise en Regle par Dom Armand Jean de Bouthillier, de Rancé cy devant Abbé Commendataire de la ditte Abbaye, et depuis Abbé regulier ayant fait sa profession en l'Abbaye de Perseigne le 6e juin 1664, il mourut dans celle de la Trappe le 27e octobre 1700 à deux heures après midi agé de 74 ans entre les bras de Monseigneur l'Evesque de Sees. Il voulut estre enterré dans le cimetière de la ditte Abbaye. Dédiés à Monsieur le chevalier de Rancé chevalier de l'Ordre de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem, Capitaine du Port de Marseille, chef d'escadre des Galères de France. Par son tres humble et tres obéissant serviteur J. Guenard. Gravé par Pierre Heuliez.‎

‎Se vend à Paris Rüe St Jacques, chez I. Guenard, sans date, 1700 vers . 20 planches en feuilles, dont le titre, gravées sur cuivre (dimensions à la cuvette 280 x 235 mm), placées dans un album grand in-folio.‎

‎Suite complète rarissime de 20 grandes planches gravées sur cuivre par Pierre Houliez vers 1700 dédiées à l'abbé Armand-Jean de Rancé (1626-1700) grand réformateur de l'abbaye cistercienne Notre-Dame de la Trappe fondée en 1122 à Soligny-la-Trappe (Orne). Éditées à Paris par le marchand d'estampes J. Guenard auquel on attribue parfois l'illustration, elles montrent les activités du monastère au XVIIe siècle ; toutes portent la mention « Se vend à Paris » complétée pour la dernière par « Se vend à Paris chez I. Guenard » ; dix sont numérotées. Certains voulaient retrouver la ferveur et les usages mis à mal par les difficultés des temps précédents : ce fut le mouvement dit de l'Étroite Observance. Bientôt ils furent rejoints par un homme au tempérament de feu, Armand-Jean Le Bouthillier de Rancé, issu d'une famille d'avocats qui s'étaient fait une place dans le gouvernement de Richelieu. Le jeune homme, qui possédait l'abbaye de La Trappe en commende (pour le bénéfice qu'il lui rapportait), commençait une brillante carrière ecclésiastique et mondaine, quand il vécut une soudaine conversion et se retira du monde, au printemps 1656. Après six années d'une difficile recherche, il renonça à tous ses biens et entra comme moine dans son abbaye, dont il fut béni abbé en 1664, imprimant à sa communauté son zèle pour Dieu et pour une pratique "authentique" de la Règle de Saint Benoît et des traditions de l'Ordre, mettant à son service une très grande connaissance des Pères de l'Église et du monachisme antique. Son interprétation de la Tradition ne fit toutefois pas l'unanimité. Pour autant, il ne laissa pas de fasciner ses contemporains par son zèle pour Dieu, et par une brûlante charité, malheureusement bien plus perceptible dans les rencontres privées et dans sa correspondance que dans ses prises de positions publiques. Les vocations affluèrent, beaucoup repartirent faute de pouvoir soutenir durablement un style de vie aussi exigeant. Les épreuves ne manquèrent pas non plus.
