Victoria B.C.: Orca Book Publishers. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. 1989. First Edition. Hardcover. 0920501257 . "Brings to life the drama and determination the conflict and the double-dealing that typified the development of the coal mining industry on Canada's west coast during the latter half of the 19th century. Fire In The Raven's Nest - The Haida of British Columbia
Toronto: New Press. Fair in Good dust jacket. 1973. First Edition. Hardcover. 0887701779 . "Presents a fascinating analysis of certain Haida legends and demonstrates that many of them were methods of remembering the movements of stars and planets while others stored mathematical knowledge. Neither a formal history nor a contemporary chronicle this book attempts to recover and describe what has been left of an interesting group of people and their attempts to change and survive in a world far different from the one that their ancestors knew." - dust jacket. 173 p. Black and white photographic plates bibliography footnotes and map endpapers. While this book was exposed to moisture at some point fortunately this only resulted in a bit of staining a moderate bow to the front board gently undulating contents and a bit of damage to the plates at page 126 where they have been separated. Otherwise the book is tight and unmarked with light wear to the original red boards brilliantly lettered in gilt upon backstrip. Moderate wear to unclipped dust jacket now in glossy new archival-grade protection. A worthy example of this fascinating study. About Indians 4th Edn 1119. ; 8vo . New Press hardcover

Behind the Lines. [Second Impression].
8vo., Second Impression, some occasional marginal annotation in pencil, fore-edges lightly spotted; original blue cloth, cloth, gilt back, covers lightly faded, joints very lightly rubbed at head and tail of backstrip else a very good, sound copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter browned, creased and rubbed at edges. Published in the same year as the first edition. One of the few first-hand accounts of the administration by the British Army of its forces in the field during WWI. The author served successively with the 51st [Territorial] Division and the 17th [New Army] Division before taking up positions at Corps and General Headquarters levels. His insights are shrewd and sympathetic; an important contribution to the literature of the Western Front. Very scarce, especially in the dustwrapper. Enser, p.395

Nicholson, Jon
Cowboys : A Vanishing World
No inscriptions or marks. A lovely clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards and very minor bumping to some corners. Dust jacket not price clipped or torn with minor creasing to upper edge and to rear. Unpaginated ca. 225pp. The author and photographer has focused his lens on the men who have adapted cowboy traditions to suit their needs in the modern world. These photographs reveal a world undergoing fundamental and irreversible changes and provide a definitive record of the cowboy as this great icon moves into the twenty-first century.
