This is a facsimile of the book first published in 1921 but when published then had the author on the book as L. Frank Baum which it was not. The entire book even though it was stated in the original first edition that the book was expounded on by Ruth Thompson from the notes of L. Frank Baum came from the mind of Ms. Thompson whom was an excellent writer of the Oz books after Baum's death. So this book is the first time that mentions the name of the true author. The book has the beautiful full color 12 plates done by John R. Neill and sports the original dust jacket design as was issued in the first edition of 1921. The book itself is bound in royal purple paper cover boards with the spine printed in gold. The spine of the jacket is simply printed horizontally. The number sequence of this gem starts with "1" - a true collectible. First edition THUS of this book and it should be in every serious Oz collector's collection. Illus. by John R. Neill. 8vo. Hardcover with dust jacket.  Blue boards in very good clean condition with illustration on front cover still bright.  Internally end-pages are age-toned with a previous owners name inked to middle of 1st free end-page but otherwise pages in very good clean condition save for a very occasional smudge scattered throughout.  The binding is tight but front hinge has cracked with rear intact.  The dust jacket has done it's job well and shows it's age. Still in one piece and not price clipped however edges and folds are quite worn with small chips and tears. The rear flap lists to #28:Wishing Horse of Oz.   All in all a very good clean copy. Octavo 7" x 9" has orange cloth over boards with a brilliantly colored paper pastedown to front cover & black lettering & design to spine fancy publisher script not plain at heel. Condition is VG: very clean text block strong & secure both hinges intact but both starting. Pages creamy white with modest tanning unmarked save for former owner's name stamp a few places in front matter mild foxing to outside edges of text block. Soiling to spine slight frying at both ends. Alas the original DJ is long gone but this remains a handsome copy!
