A couple of the plates are partially loose. Some of the page paper is age toned whereas the rest is still bright. A collection of short stories which includes a full colour frontispiece by Jessie Wilcox Smith and a number of rather simple and forgettable silhouette prints by the author. Publisher's mid-brown boards with gilt lettering to the spine. Boards exceptionally bright and clean. No inscriptions. The merest hint of wear at the base of the spine otherwise a fine copy. The rare dustwrapper is in fair condition with significant chipping to the spine in particular and to the edges of both the front and back panels. The presence of the dustwrapper has however protected the boards remarkably well. A delightful cookery notebook written by English society hostess and food writer Ruth Lowinsky.'Lovely Food' was Lowinsky's debut work in which she presents a number of bourgeoise recipes for various occasions including high tea picnics and a shooting lunch. Charmingly illustrated by the author's husband the surrealist Thomas Esmond Lowinsky. At the rear of the book is a Hostess Notebook which has not been filled in.
