Rao Sahib M Abraham Pandither
Karunamirtha Sagaram On Srutisa Hardcover
2020. Hardcover. New. About the Book:-The author begins this work making obeisance to the beautiful feet of the Almighty who created the whole universe with His word of command who is Himself the universe who is Himself incarnate and who rules the universe as the incarnation of virtue. Devotees who worshipped the deity in such a manner found Him according to their several conceptions either as a King or as a parent or as a Guru or as a timely helper or as one who relieved them from all difficulties or as a loving son or as a loving bride-groom and thus gave vent to their feelings in singing His praises; some worshipped by prostrating themselves before Him; some prayed to Him to deliver them from all their troubles ; some prayed for the gift of obtaining whatever they desired; some bewailed their fate owing to separation from the deity; some who realised His presence in themselves danced for joy ; many who desired His presence sent messengers for enquiry ; others filled with love praised Him fervently. The book is compiled on the theme of our ancient history and literature given in Srutis a treatise in music or Isai-Tamil-which is one of the main divisions of Mutamill or language music and drama. The book contains occasional figures tables graph and a portrait of the author About the Author:-Rao Sahib Pandithar was a Tamil musicologist composer and a traditional medicine practitioner from Sambavar vadakarai of Tirunelveli District That day Kollam district who is celebrated for his patronage of numerous Tamil musicians and his influential studies concerning the origins and evolution of traditional Tamil music. He belonged to a family of doctors and became interested in Siddha medicine. In 1879 he went to Suruli hills to research herbs growing there. There he met the Siddhar Karunandhar and became his student. After completing his studies he went to Tanjore and worked as a Tamil teacher in Lady Napier Girls School. His wife Gnanavadivu Ponnammal was the headmistress in the same school. In 1890 he left his teaching job to do research on medicine full-time. He started a farm outside Tanjore for growing medicinal plants. He named it Karanandhapuram after his teacher. The Title 'Karunamirtha Sagaram On Srutisa written/authored/edited by Rao Sahib M.
