'Consisting of those which were formerly printed: and those which he design'd for the press: now published out of the author's original copies. 'Containing many different parts with individual title pages. Including an account of the life and writings of Abraham Cowley. Works include Miscellanies The Mistress Pindarique Odes Davideis Verses Written on Several Occasions The Colledge and The Tragical History of Pirmaus and Thisbe amongst others. The latter written when the author was just ten years of age. Previous owners' copperplate inscriptions to title page of Elizabeth Custler dated 1686 and Judith Ryes dated 1696. Condition: In a calf binding. Externally worn. Rear board missing and front board detached but present. Much of the leather of the backstrip is missing. The remainder is cracked and lifting. Internally final nine pages missing. Binding loosening in places with the frontispiece starting and with a large closed tear. Title page detached but present. Loss to the tail of the final few pages affecting text. Curling to many pages. Generally bright but with scattered spots and ink marks. Bookplate and lifting to front pastedown.
