In diesem Konzept einer harmonischen Gesellschaft, in der der Gegensatz zwischen Egoismus und Sittlichkeit, der für die herrschenden Vorstellungen des Mittelalters noch konstitutiv war, durch Versöhnung beider im Verlauf ihrer wechselseitigen Verwirklichung aufgelöst erscheint, findet die praktische Veränderung seiner Zeit ihren Niederschlag: die Emanzipation der bürgerlichen Klasse, die sich selbst nicht anders begreifen konnte als eine Addition von Individuen und deren Selbstverständnis noch ihre revolutionäre Rolle als Träger der gesellschaftlichen Vernunft und der Produktivität gegenüber den schmarotzenden feudalen Klassen repräsentierte.
