Der vorliegende Band hat einen Wasserschaden erlitten, dadurch sind Feuchtränder vorhanden. Die Deckel sind etwas verzogen. Wegen der Kunstdruckpapierverwendung ist der Buchblock trotzdem fest, die Blätter wenig im Randbereich gewellt. Ich habe jedes Blatt einzeln trennen müssen, wodurch teilweise am seitlichen Rand Fehlstellen entstanden sind. Diese sind auf einigen Blättern bis zu einem Centimeter breit, niemals jedoch reichen Sie in die Abbildungen hinein. Der Innenerhalt ist sauber. [7 Warenabbildungen]‎

‎L'Oceanie est un monde relativement meconnu depuis la lointaine Europe, exceptees les grandes terres comme l'Australie ou la Nouvelle-Zelande, pleinement integrees au monde occidental. Pour le reste, la geographie de l'Oceanie est difficile a maitriser : quelques milliers d'iles a peine representables sur les planispheres ou les mappemondes, perdues dans l'immensite de l'ocean. Il est assez paradoxal qu'on ait appele ce vaste territoire maritime le 5e ? continent ? . Mais des liens sans cesse retisses par des voyages incessants entre les iles assurent cette unite. L'Histoire n'y est pas moindre qu'ailleurs, durant laquelle vont eclore des societes aux contenus extremement riches, herites de la superposition de vagues migratoires et d'echanges repetes. Il en resulte une mosaique que l'on pourrait trouver complexe, mais qui ne l'est pas plus que le foisonnement des langues et des cultures qui s'interpenetrent dans l'Europe contemporaine. Oceania. Voyages dans l'immensite est une invitation a decouvrir le 5e continent au travers de temoignages materiels que les siecles ont preserves. Nous aimons classer ces vestiges dans la categorie des expressions artistiques. Au vrai, on ne sait trop la perception de l'art qu'avaient les Insulaires de jadis, mais l'esthetique de leurs productions est indeniable et fascinante. Masques, armes, architectures, figurations des dieux, des ancetres ou des esprits?, les Oceaniens concurent tout cela pour gerer leurs visions du monde et ils n'ont eu de cesse de se surpasser pour rendre ces objets efficaces et efficients?, et donc beaux, car reflets sinceres de leur histoire et de leurs identites.‎
