(Viaggi in Africa Orientale - Esplorazioni - Etiopia meridionale - Abissinia - Somalia - Letteratura coloniale) In 8°, legatura editoriale in piena tela ocra con titoli impressi in oro al dorso ed al piatto anteriore, guardie in carta decorata, pp. 282,(2). con 3 appendici, 6 carte geografiche a colori ripiegate fuori testo, una pianta topografica a colori fuori testo, 158 ill. fotografiche su tavole fuori testo. Nel 1910 al Citerni fu affidato dal Ministero per gli Affari Esteri il comando di una spedizione destinata a definire la frontiera tra i possedimenti italiani della Somalia e le provincie sud-orientali dell'Impero etiopico in base al trattato stipulato il 16 luglio 1908 dai due governi. La missione raggiunse i confini il 15 marzo 1911 ed iniziò le operazioni geodetiche che si prolungarono per molti mesi e che furono sospese a causa di una rivolta fra le popolazioni dell'Uebi-Scebeli. Verranno rilevati ben 1600 Km. di frontiera, notevoli anche i risultati ottenuti nei campi della geografia fisica, della geologia, della zoologia, della botanica e dell'etnografia. Leggere tracce di ossidazione lungo i tagli ed alle carte geografiche, per altro bell'esemplare, solido e ben conservato.

Per arrivare fino al regno di Choa, Combes et Tamisier visitarono Axum, Adowa, Galla, Debra-Tabor, il lago di Tana, Gondar, ecc. Questa dettagliata relazione del viaggio è naturalmente arricchita dalla storia del paese e da approfonditi commenti sugli usi, costumi, credenze, forme di governo, commerci delle popolazioni incontrate. Brossura editoriale illustrata. Buon esemplare con qualche minima fioritura; qualche leggera macchia alla brossura che presenta evidenti mende al dorso. Chiazza d'inchiostro all'angolo inferiore destro del piatto superiore e delle prime carte del primo volume; parzialmente scucito, dorso rovinato.

Opera sulla storia, geografia, usi e costumi del popolo abissino, con un ricco apparato iconografico. Manca il primo volume. Due piccole mancanze marginali alle copertine. Lievemente danneggiata l'estremità inferiore del dorso.
