Roldanus W. N.
De approviandeering der ontworpen Stelling van Amsterdam.
's-Gravenhage Van Doorn 1888. Two parts in one volume. Paginated consecutively. Crown quarto. Pp. ii 22; ii 25-108. Plus 2 sketch maps one of which is folding. Several tables. Original wrappers bit worn and shabby shelf tickets and old institutional stamp. In a very good internal condition entirely still unopened. ~ First edition. Extremely rare. Roldanus submitted this work to a competition called in 1886 by the Vereeniging ter beoefening van de Krijgswetenschap titled "De approviandeering der ontworpen stelling van Amsterdam hare voorbereiding in tijd van vrede en hare uitvoering bij het uitbreken van een oorlog." The three contributors shared the price of fl. 500 but only Roldanus' work was found suitable for publication. In his work he goes into great detail as to the necessary provisions required both in time of peace and at war. In the supplementary tables he even provides a census of neighbouring municipalities villages and hamlets that form the Defence Line of Amsterdam and specifies how many kilograms of meat potatoes peas beans rice sugar coffee salt paper etc. etc. would be necessary to support these populations. Rolland, Romain; K Fornberg
ZSHAN KRISTOF [FIVE VOLUME SET] COMPLETE.
Publishers cloth. 12mo. Pages. 19 cm. First Yiddish edition. Jean Christophe, translated from the French by K Fornberg. Book 1, Der beginen 2, Der frih-morgen - 3 Yugend 4, Der oyfshtand 5, Di bafrayung. Rollands most renowned work, by far, was Jean-Christophe, completed in 1912. The 10-volume novel is the original roman fleuve, a work that chronicles a sprawling history that gives an overall, often-critical view of society during its time. In 1915 the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Romain Rolland as a tribute to the lofty idealism of his literary production and to the sympathy and love of truth with which he has described different types of human beings. Partly because of his outspoken defense of human rights, especially the rights of minorities, Rolland had a mass following among European Jews. In fact, the Yiddish translation of Jean-Christophe
. Was among the most popular Yiddish books ever-published and was the best-selling modern translation into Yiddish. (Yiddishkayt.org; Romain Rolland) Subjects: Yiddish literature - Translations from French. French literature - Translations into Yiddish. OCLC lists 17 copies worldwide. First volume in fine condition, remaining volumes with lightly soiled and aged cloth, volume four cloth quite soiled; all volumes internally very fresh and clean. Very good condition. (YID-16-16)

ROLLIER, Mario Alberto.
Stati uniti d'Europa.
in-16, pp. 161, (5), broch. edit. .
