Very Good Armenian Paperback. Cr. 8vo. (20 x 14 cm). In Armenian. 32 p., b/w ills. Hayeren parergneroi Adis Harmandian: Yev ir yergery. Adiss Harmandian was a Lebanese-Armenian pop singer. He was born Avedis Harmandian on 14 January 1945 in Beirut, Lebanon from Armenian genocide survivours. His stage name Adiss is a derivative of his given name. His career began in the 1960s, and his first single was the song "Dzaghigner", which quickly gained popularity among Lebanese and diaspora Armenians. Harmandian is considered a pioneer of the estradayin genre of Armenian music. Songs in the genre, such as Harmandian's own "Nouné" or "Karoun Karoun" are primarily sung in Armenian, and were influential in the formation of Armenian identity in Lebanon, the Middle East and throughout the Armenian diaspora. Harmandian has released 29 albums and around 400 songs and has received numerous awards, both abroad and in Armenia. During the Lebanese Civil War, Harmandian emigrated to the United States and resided in Los Angeles, CA. This book includes his life, memoir and lyrics. Not in OCLC.

A tourist guide for over twenty years, Ahmet Faik Ozbilge wrote this book after studying and walking over every inch of Fener, Balat and Ayvansaray, three ancient neigborhoods of the Golden Horn. The book starts off with the Church of St. Savior in Chora, now Kariye Museum, and traces the ancient Byzantine walls passing through Balat and Fener all the way to Cibali. Though rather long, this is a circular route around which it is possible to walk in one day passing synagogues, churches, mosques, palaces, dungeons, tombs, dervish lodges, fountains and Turkish baths in neigborhoods where once inhabited by Jews, Greeks, Bulgars, Moldavians, Wallachians, emperors, sages, drunkards, dervishes and other colorful denizens of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires.
