In folio (57,5 x 69 cm il foglio). Esemplare in fine coloritura coeva ed in ottime condizioni di conservazione. Testo in tedesco e francese in cartiglio a sinistra della stampa e sopra e sotto la scena di battaglia navale nell’angolo sinistro della carta. Magnifica e vivida tiratura di questa celeberrima carta del territorio delle coste francesi. Edita per la prima volta intorno agli anni 30’ del settecento da Matthaus Seutter, la carta venne poi ripresa, aggiornata e corretta dal suo successore e cognato (sposò una delle figlie di Seutter), il cartografo, editore ed incisore Tobias Conrad Lotter (1717 - 1777). Lotter, si formò alla bottega di Matthaus Seutter per il quale lavorò. Alla morte di Seutter ne rilevò l’attività che portò avanti fino al 1777 anno della sua morte. L’attività passo poi al figlio, Matthias Albrecht Lotter. Tobias Conrad fu uno dei più apprezzati cartografi del settecento. La carta riproduce il territorio della costa oceanica francese con la Bretagna, il Canale della Manica ed i territori dell’Aquitania, Limosino, Poitou, Charentes, Linguadoca, Rossiglione, Midi, Pirenei. Esemplare in ottime condizioni di conservazione ed ad ampi margini. La battaglia illustrata nel margine basso è il celebre scontro avvenuto davanti a Cartagena, nella Murcia spagnola, il 25 febbraio del 1758 fra le navi francesi ed inglesi durante la Guerra dei Sette Anni. In quel giorno una flotta britannica, guidata da Henry Osborn, incrociò una flotta francese davanti la città di Cartagena. La flotta inglese attaccò e sconfisse la forza francese guidata da Michel-Ange Duquesne de Menneville che si stava spostando per raggiungere e portar aiuto alla fortezza francese di Louisbourg nel Nord America che non aiutata, cadde lo stesso anno dopo un lungo assedio inglese.
