Color frontispiece illustration of "Michael" playing on a ship. Very good all gilt lettering clear some light spotting probably from some dampness to the rear board. Sequel novel to London's "Jerry of The Islands" also 1917; Jerry being an Irish terrier. Michael is Jerry's brother terrier also born and raised in the Solomon Islands. Michael works as a slave hunter aboard a schooner. One day the schooner's captain accidentally saoils away leaving Michael on a beach. He is found and adopted by another sailor who plans to sell him but becomes attached to him and takes him on a trip around the world. Macmillan hardcover

No handwriting or bookplates noted. 344 pages plus publisher's 8-page catalog of Jack London's books and one title by Alfred W. Pollard at rear. Copyright page states: " Set up and electrotyped. Published November 1917". First edition first printing thus. Gilt on spine is present but faded front board shows corner bumping with the upper right being the worst. Circular dampstain the late lee visible on front board likely from a drink. Foxing noted the worst being on the title page and frontispiece. Rear pastedown has a tear at the center spine of about an inch. Overall condition VG minus. See photos. <br/> <br/> The Macmillan Company hardcover
