Veduta tratta dalla celebre raccolta Skizzen und Bilder aus Rom [--Neapel; --Florenz] und Umgegend. [Stuttgart: Köhler, 1851-1860., una suite di tavole litografiche, molto rara, realizzata tra il 1851 e il 1860. Brunet cita solo la parte relativa a Roma e dintorni, mentre le altre due parti gli sfuggono. Le bellissime litografie, alcune delle quali firmate in pietra e datate 1848, raffigurano vedute di Roma (48 tavole, come la collazione di Brunet), di Napoli (36 vedute) e di Firenze (6 vedute). Karl August Lindemann-Frommel è stato un pittore di paesaggi e litografo. Lindemann nacque in Alsazia come quarto figlio della coppia di coniugi Karl August Philipp Lindemann (1776-1828) e Catharina Philippina Frommel (1787-1841). Il padre, proprietario di una fabbrica, morì quando Lindemann aveva nove anni. La custodia fu affidata allo zio Carl Ludwig Frommel, professore di pittura e incisione a Karlsruhe e direttore delle Pinacoteche granducali. Lindemann imparò il mestiere di artista da Frommel, che in seguito lo adottò. Il suo secondo insegnante influente fu Carl Rottmann. Dal 1844 al 1849 Lindemann viaggiò attraverso l'Italia, che sarebbe poi diventata il suo paese d'adozione. A Roma divenne membro fondatore dell'Associazione degli artisti tedeschi nel 1845. Incontra Karl Christian Andreae, di quattro anni più giovane, e lo ispira a studiare i paesaggi italiani. In seguito ha vissuto a Monaco e a Parigi, dove ha approfondito la pittura a olio. Nel 1856 Karl Lindemann-Frommel si stabilì a Roma, dove fu nominato professore all'Accademia di San Luca. Visse e lavorò a Roma fino alla sua morte, avvenuta nel 1891. Il Meyers Konversations-Lexikon, 1908, descrive le sue opere grafiche: "Come frutto dei suoi studi [in Italia] pubblicò una serie di vedute di Roma, Napoli, Firenze ecc. in litografie parzialmente colorate (Lipsia, 1851), a cui seguirono nel 1858 fogli litografati con motivi delle Paludi Pontine e 24 fogli di vedute di Potsdam”. Karl August Lindemann-Frommel was a landscape painter and lithographer. Lindemann was born in Alsace as the fourth child of the married couple Karl August Philipp Lindemann (1776-1828) and Catharina Philippina Frommel (1787-1841). His father, a factory owner, died when Lindemann was nine years old. Custody was entrusted to his uncle Carl Ludwig Frommel, a professor of painting and printmaking in Karlsruhe and director of the Grand Ducal Picture Galleries. Lindemann learned the artist's trade from Frommel, who later adopted him. His second influential teacher was Carl Rottmann. From 1844 to 1849 Lindemann traveled through Italy, which would later become his adopted country. In Rome he became a founding member of the Association of German Artists in 1845. He met Karl Christian Andreae, four years his junior, and inspired him to study Italian landscapes. He later lived in Munich and Paris, where he delved into oil painting. In 1856 Karl Lindemann-Frommel settled in Rome, where he was appointed professor at the Accademia di San Luca. He lived and worked in Rome until his death in 1891. The Meyers Konversations-Lexikon, 1908, describes his graphic works: "As the fruit of his studies he published a series of views of Rome, Naples, Florence etc. in partially colored lithographs (Leipzig, 1851), which was followed in 1858 by lithographed sheets with motifs of the Pontine Marshes and 24 sheets of views of Potsdam." Tavola dimostrante l'impossibilità che il Fiume Luso sia mai stato l'Antico Rubicone
Rara carta geografica tratta dall'opera "Nuova divesa in favore del vero Rubicone contro l'innovazion fatta dalli fautori del fiume Luso", opuscolo di Giancarlo Serra.Orientata a sud-ovest, con in basso a destra una scala di sei 'Miglia Comuni d'Italia', il suo contesto geografico ricalca sostanzialmente quello della tavola inserita nella precedente difesa delle ragioni cesenati sull'attribuzione del fiume Rubicone. Questa tavola è legata alla fase della disputa in cui a decidere della questione territoriale fu investito addirittura il Foro romano.Si tratta ad ogni modo di uno degli ultimi esempi cartografici che hanno accompagnato la secolare disputa, e dai suoi predecessori si differenzia non tanto per i contenuti quanto per la buona qualità grafica del disegno di Sebastiano Sassi e dell'incisione di Johannes Lindemann, incisore tedesco che operava in Romagna intorno alla metà del XVIII secolo.Incisione in rame, con margini, in perfetto stato di conservazione. Rara.
