"Times To Remember." - Michel - Natal - 1899-1980 British Columbia Local History
British Columbia: Self-Published. Good. 1980. Collector's Edition. Paperback. 4172543707 . Presents the local history of the twin British Columbia towns of Michel-Natal. "I lived through the purchase of Michel Colleries in the East Kootenay by Edgar Kaiser 1968-72 with both federal and provincial governments okaying the complete demise of Michel-Natal displacing 1200 residents so that Kaiser would not have to adhere to pollution standards. Born and raised in a town we loved we left for Kelowna with $4000 compensation as our homes burned. Kaiser raped the hills of the Elk Valley for its coal leaving behind sludge-filled tailings ponds to pollute the once-pristine rivers." - Author in a letter to the Kelowna Daily Courier in 2012. 198 pages. Profusely illustrated with black and white reproductions of archival photos. Gift greetings upon first blank leaf otherwise clean tight and unmarked with moderate wear. ; 8vo .
