"Richard Foote b.1632 came from England to Westmoreland County Virginia returned to England on several business trips married Hester Howard in 1657 and remained in England. His son Richard Foote II 1665-1725 immigrated in 1688 to land in Stafford and King George Counties Virginia. The name "Chotank" was given to the area and people from there were known as "Chotankers." Descendants lived in Virginia North Carolina South Carolina Georgia Alabama Mississippi and elsewhere."
