Very Good. x 114 numbered blank1-113one page handwritten blank leaves170x100mm portrait bound in black Morocco gilt titled:"2 N.E.R. MINERAL STATISTICS 1854-1925". The many tables of shipments by rail and canal or from ports are printed up to 1914 with the years 1915 to 1925 left blank. Many of the figures for these years and for 1926 have been handwritten in in at least three different hands and cover coal coakclay shale etc. The sources N.E.R. themselves a journal other company or national statistics are indicated by reference letters. This book is hand-numbered 58 with the signatures of two officials to whom it was issued and is "for the use of the Company's officials only". The printed information must now be very hard to find the handwritten information surely even more so. No copies appear to be held in university libraries. Color illustrated poster 40" x 30" after the painting by Gustav Wilhelm Krollman with his name and "Cascade Mountains State of Washington U.S.A. Northern Pacific Railway" in print. This striking vintage travel poster shows a view of Mount Saint Helens with its reflection in Spirit Lake many years before its dramatic eruption in 1980. Starting in the late 1920s Austrian-born artist and commercial illustrator Gustav Krollman produced a series of scenic paintings for the Northern Pacific. This view of Spirit Lake and Mt. St. Helens was one of the few that did not have a locomotive in it. Colorful original mounted poster with a tiny pinhole in each corner else in fine condition. Suitable for framing. Very Good small tears and a few small holes at creases. RARE OCLC locates three libraries with holdings of this 1887 map - U. of Calif Berkeley U. of Missouri St. Louis and Washington State Library. There was one earlier version corrected up to January 1 1886 one of which most recently seen at an auction in 2007. The extensive text consists consists of detailed county-by-county descriptions of farming opportunities in North Dakota accompanied by numerous photographic images as well as the obligatory information on passenger travel and freight service available through Northern Pacific to these areas. A color map of the state with existing and proposed Northern Pacific lines is printed on the inside front wrapper.
